Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC)

Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) The Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) under the Ministry of Agriculture is at the apex of the national agricultural research system (NARS).

It has the responsibility to strengthen the national agricultural research capability through planning and integration of resources. It is the umbrella under which the entire Bangladesh agricultural research effort is coordinated. This involved cooperative activities in several ministries of government: Agriculture, Forest and Environment, Fisheries and Livestock, Rural Development, Education, Ind

ustries, Commerce, Science and Technology, etc. Policies to guide BARC are made by a governing body which is headed by the Hon'ble Minister for Agricultural as its Chairman, with the Hon'ble Minister for Fisheries and Livestock and Hon'ble Minister for Environment and Forest as the co-chairman including Hon'ble Member of the Parliament, top officials of government ministries and research institutes, outstanding scientists, farmers representative as members. The implementation of the policies adopted by the governing body is the responsibility of the Executive Chairman of BARC and the Member-Directors and Directors of specific disciplines. BARC is entrusted with the task of preparing the vision document and the national agricultural research plan. These are the guide for planning and conducting research activities according to the national priorities. Based on these the research institutes draws their master plan. BARC has the responsibility to coordinate research and foster inter-institute collaboration, monitor and review the research program of NARS institutes, assist institutes to strengthen research capacities, establish system-wide operational policies and standard management procedures and assure that each institute is optimally governed.

বাংলাদেশ কৃষি গবেষণা কাউন্সিল (বিএআরসি)-এর সভাকক্ষে "২০২৫-২৬ অর্থবছরের অনুমোদিত কর্মপরিকল্পনা বাস্তবায়ন অগ্রগতি এবং ২০২৬-২৭ অর্থবছরের প্রস্তাবিত কর্মপরিকল্পনার ওপর পর্যালোচনা কর্মশালা" অনুষ্ঠিত হচ্ছে। দুই দিনব্যাপী এই কর্মশালাটি আজ ১০ আগস্ট ২০২৬ খ্রি. থেকে শুরু হয়ে আগামীকাল ১১ আগস্ট ২০২৬ খ্রি. পর্যন্ত চলবে।
কর্মশালায় উদ্ভোধনী অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন প্রফেসর এ এস এম গোলাম হাফিজ, সম্মানিত সদস্য, বাংলাদেশ সরকারি কর্ম কমিশন এবং সভাপতিত্ব করেন বিএআরসি'র নির্বাহী চেয়ারম্যান ড. মো: আবদুছ ছালাম। কর্মশালায় স্বাগত বক্তব্য রাখেন জনাব মো: আব্দুল মোত্তাকিন, সদস্য পরিচালক, পরিকল্পনা ও মূল্যায়ন বিভাগ, বিএআরসি।

কর্মশালায় ২০২৫-২৬ অর্থবছরে বিএআরসি'র বিভিন্ন বিভাগ, ইউনিট, কেন্দ্র কর্তৃক গৃহীত কর্মপরিকল্পনাসমূহের অর্জিত অগ্রগতি মূল্যায়ন এবং আগামী ২০২৬-২৭ অর্থবছরের জন্য প্রস্তাবিত কর্মপরিকল্পনা বিস্তারিত পর্যালোচনার মাধ্যমে চূড়ান্ত রূপ দেওয়ার বিষয়ে বিএআরসি’র কর্মকর্তা, বিজ্ঞানী এবং বিশেষজ্ঞবৃন্দ বিশদ আলোচনা করছেন।

A high-level consultation meeting held on Reviewing Pesticide Legislation and Developing Strategies for the Rational Use of Pesticides to Ensure Safe Food Production and Safeguard Public Health was held today, July 23, 2026, at BARC.

The meeting was graced by Mr. Mohammed Aminur Rashid, Hon'ble Minister, Ministry of Agriculture & Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, as the Chief Guest. Dr. Rafiqul I Mohamed, Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Chaired the session.

During the meeting, participants reviewed existing pesticide laws, regulations, and relevant operational activities to ensure a disciplined and rational application of pesticides. Strong emphasis was placed on taking coordinated, sustainable steps among all stakeholders to ensure secure food supplies and protect public health.

A Project Completion Workshop on "Validation and Scaling up Seaweed Cultivation Technique in Coastal Areas" was held on 09 July 2026 at the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC), Farmgate, Dhaka.

Dr. Rafiqul I Mohamed, Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, graced the workshop as the Chief Guest, while Dr. Md. Abdus Salam, Executive Chairman of BARC, presided over the session as the Chair.

The project was coordinated by the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC), funded by the Krishi Gobeshona Foundation (KGF), Farmgate, Dhaka, and implemented by the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Gazipur.

A tripartite MoU Signing Ceremony was held today July 8, 2026 at BARC in Dhaka. The MoU was signed between BARC, BARD and RDA (Korea). Additional Secretary (PPC), MoA, attended the program as Chief Guest Chaired by the Executive Chairman of BARC, the event was attended among others by the Director General of BARD and senior representatives from RDA Korea, KOICA Dhaka office and BARC..A KOPIA Center (Korea Partnership for Innovation in Agriculture) will be established in Dhaka under the provision of this MoU.

টেকসই উন্নয়ন অভীষ্ট (এসডিজি) এর কৃষি মন্ত্রণালয় সংশ্লিষ্ট লক্ষ্যমাত্রাসমূহের বাস্তবায়ন অগ্রগতি পর্যালোচনা কর্মশালা আজ ২১ জুন ২০২৬ বাংলাদেশ কৃষি গবেষণা কাউন্সিল (বিএআরসি) এর সভাকক্ষে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে।
