شارك المدير العام لهيئة تنظيم الاتصالات، فيليب مارنيك، في عدد من الجلسات والاجتماعات رفيعة المستوى، ضمن أعمال منتدى القمة العالمية لمجتمع المعلومات والقمة العالمية للذكاء الاصطناعي من أجل الخير، اللتين عُقدتا في مدينة جنيف بسويسرا، بمشاركة مسؤولين وصناع قرار وممثلين عن الجهات التنظيمية والمنظمات الدولية والقطاع الخاص.
وخلال مشاركته، استعرض تجربة مملكة البحرين في تطوير قطاع الاتصالات والتحول الرقمي، مؤكداً أن بناء منظومة رقمية متقدمة يرتكز على تعزيز التعاون بين مختلف الجهات المعنية، وتشجيع الابتكار، وتطوير أطر تنظيمية مرنة تواكب المتغيرات المستقبلية، بما يسهم في بناء مجتمع رقمي آمن وشامل.
كما أكد أهمية تحقيق التوازن بين دعم الابتكار وتعزيز المنافسة وضمان حماية المستهلكين في البيئة الرقمية، إلى جانب الاستثمار في تطوير البنية التحتية الرقمية وبناء القدرات، بما يدعم النمو المستدام للاقتصاد الرقمي.
وعلى هامش الفعاليات، عقد المدير العام عدداً من الاجتماعات الثنائية مع رؤساء الجهات التنظيمية وممثلي المنظمات الدولية، لبحث سبل تعزيز التعاون وتبادل الخبرات، ودعم جهود مملكة البحرين في إعادة انتخابها لعضوية مجلس الاتحاد الدولي للاتصالات.
TRA’s General Director Philip Marnick participated in a number of high-level sessions and meetings during the WSIS+20 High-Level Event and the AI for Good Global Summit, held in Geneva, Switzerland, with the participation of ministers, policymakers, regulators, international organisations, and private sector representatives.
During his participation, he highlighted the Kingdom of Bahrain’s experience in advancing the telecommunications sector and digital transformation, emphasising that building an advanced digital ecosystem depends on strengthening collaboration among stakeholders, fostering innovation, and developing agile regulatory frameworks that support a safe, inclusive, and future-ready digital society.
He also underlined the importance of balancing innovation, competition, and consumer protection, while continuing to invest in digital infrastructure and capacity building to support the sustainable growth of the digital economy.
On the sidelines of the events, the General Director held a number of bilateral meetings with fellow regulators and international organisations to discuss opportunities for cooperation, exchange expertise, and support the Kingdom of Bahrain’s re-election to the ITU Council.
