The Embassy of Italy in Manama is delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievement of 16-year-old William Balzano, who represented Bahrain at OCEANMAN Egypt 2026 in El Gouna, competing in the 15–19 age category.

🌊🏊 William delivered an exceptional performance, taking home:

🥇 1st overall & 1st in his category – 10KM OCEANMAN | ⏱️ 2:11:02
🥉 3rd overall & 2nd in his category – Sprint 2KM | ⏱️ 26:04

A fantastic achievement that makes the Italian community in Bahrain proud and reflects William’s talent, dedication and hard work. 💪

Beyond the medals, William’s success is a wonderful example of the strong ties between Italy and Bahrain, and of how sport can bring communities and generations together. 💪

🏆 From 24 to 27 September 2026, the Gulf of Naples will be the stage for the 38th Louis Vuitton America’s Cup, the sailing competition that will determine the next challenger for the America’s Cup.

🚢 First, the meeting on September 23rd with the Amerigo Vespucci, to underline the link between the two symbols of the history of navigation, then the event, among sport, technology and spirit of challenge.

🇮🇹 Ambassador of Italy at San Francesco 800 – A Musical Journey of Faith in Bahrain

Andrea Catalano, Ambassador of Italy, attended the extraordinary musical celebration San Francesco 800 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Arabia.
The event, guided by H.E. Bishop Aldo Berardi O.SS.T. and conceived by Fr. Marcus Fernandes OFM.Cap., marked 800 years of the Franciscan legacy since the passing of St. Francis of Assisi—patron saint of Italy.
Promoted globally by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs through its diplomatic missions, this anniversary highlights the timeless message of peace, humility, and fraternity that St. Francis represents.
With 21 musicians, 42 adult singers, and 17 children singers, the program offered 14 unforgettable songs, including the historic encounter with Sultan Al‑Kamil in Egypt (1219).
The evening opened with a keynote by H.E. Sheikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and Chairman of the King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence, reaffirming Bahrain’s commitment to dialogue and harmony.

🇮🇹 L’Ambasciatore d’Italia a San Francesco 800 – Un Viaggio Musicale di Fede
Andrea Catalano, Ambasciatore d’Italia, ha partecipato alla straordinaria celebrazione musicale San Francesco 800 presso la Cattedrale di Nostra Signora d’Arabia.
Guidato da S.E. Mons. Aldo Berardi O.SS.T. e ideato da Padre Marcus Fernandes OFM.Cap., l’evento ha commemorato gli 800 anni dell’eredità francescana dalla morte di San Francesco d’Assisi—patrono d’Italia. ha promosso a livello globale questo anniversario attraverso le missioni diplomatiche italiane, sottolineando l’attualità universale del messaggio di pace e fraternità di San Francesco.
Con 21 musicisti, 42 cantori adulti e 17 voci di bambini, il programma ha presentato 14 brani indimenticabili, inclusa la storica visita di San Francesco al Sultano Al‑Kamil a Damietta (1219).
La serata è stata inaugurata da un discorso di S.E. Sheikh Abdulla Al Khalifa, il Presidente del King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence, che ha ribadito l’impegno del Bahrain per il dialogo e l’armonia.

On the occasion of the visit to Manama by the Ambassadors of the European Union resident in Kuwait, the Italian Ambassador to Bahrain, Andrea Catalano, hosted a reception that brought together the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Kingdom of Bahrain and colleagues from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It was a pleasant opportunity for dialogue, exchange, and networking, which further strengthened the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the European countries and Bahrain, reflecting a shared commitment to promoting dialogue and international collaboration.

Kimi Antonelli makes history by winning the first-ever Madrid Grand Prix, adding another remarkable chapter to an extraordinary season. In only his second year in Formula 1, he has already amassed eight Grand Prix victories and is firmly on course for the Drivers’ Championship.

His post-race words revealed not only talent, but also humility:

“It was a very difficult race, far from straightforward, especially in terms of tyre management. It feels good to win, but not as much as it should because Lando deserved the win. Still, I’ll take this victory. Our pace was very strong, particularly on the hard tyres, and we were able to keep pushing.”

🎉 Yesterday, the Mediterranean Games Taranto 2026 came to a spectacular close with an unforgettable Closing Ceremony at the Iacovone Stadium.

✨ Through music, dance, emotional performances and the parade of flags from all 26 participating nations, Taranto celebrated the values of friendship, inclusion and peace that defined these Games. The evening concluded with the symbolic handover of the Mediterranean Games flag to Pristina 2030, marking the beginning of the next chapter of the Mediterranean journey.

🏅 With more than 3,800 athletes competing, Taranto 2026 was a remarkable celebration of sport, excellence and unity across the Mediterranean.

🇮🇹 Italy made history by winning 224 medals (74 gold, 78 silver and 72 bronze), achieving its best-ever result and surpassing the historic Bari 1997 record.

The legacy of Taranto 2026 will live on far beyond the field of play.

🎉 Ieri si sono conclusi i Giochi del Mediterraneo di Taranto 2026 con una straordinaria Cerimonia di Chiusura allo Stadio Iacovone.

✨ Tra musica, danza, emozioni e il suggestivo ingresso delle bandiere dei 26 Paesi partecipanti, Taranto ha salutato il Mediterraneo celebrando i valori di amicizia, inclusione e pace che hanno caratterizzato questa storica edizione.
