The Belize Delegation with the Belize High Commission during IMO MEPC 84 in London, April 27-May 1, 2026.

The Belize Delegation comprising of Acting Technical and Seafarer Director, Anique Sabal, Technical Officer-Darlin Gaitan alongside Belize Port Authority Project Lead Jaeda Sutherland, Project and Quality Officer and Clint McCulloch (Supervisor) participated in the 84th session of the IMO Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC 84) in London, where key discussions advanced on global shipping emissions, marine environmental protection, and pollution prevention. The session addressed decarbonization measures, environmental risks in the Strait of Hormuz, new air‑emission controls, and actions to protect marine ecosystems.

We are proud to announce the Belize Delegation comprising of International Merchant Marine Registry of Belize, Finance Belize, Belize High Seas Fisheries Unit and Belize Companies & Corporate Affairs Registry's participation in the upcoming Posidonia International Shipping Exhibition a premier global platform for the maritime industry taking place June 1-5, 2026.

Representing Belize on this stage is a reflection of our continued commitment to growth, collaboration, and excellence within the international maritime community. The delegation brings together a diverse group of professionals dedicated to strengthening our presence, building strategic partnerships, and exploring new opportunities for the maritime and financial sector.

Ms. Felicia Vargas, Director of Registration Services, and Mr. Anique Sabal, Acting Director of Technical & Seafarer Services, represented Immarbe Belize in Singapore from April 20–24, engaging with partners and stakeholders during Singapore Maritime Week and the Singapore Yachting Festival.

During Singapore Maritime Week, our representatives visited a number of industry booths alongside Belize Port Authority representative Mr. Kaylon Young, Ports Commissioner, strengthening collaboration and showcasing our presence within the global maritime community.

Throughout the visit, engaged with ship managers, vessel owners, and valued partners across both the maritime and yachting sectors. Highlights included meetings with Hilda Loe Associates, visits onboard Belize‑registered yachts, discussions with vessel owners and managers operating in Malaysia and Singapore, and engagements with industry partners such as Equatorial, Trust Ship Management, Flag State Inspector (Malaysia), Valentis Alliance, and Emaris Shipping.

We extend our sincere thanks to Deputy Registrar Diego Corrado and all stakeholders for their collaboration, hospitality, and continued support of the Friendly Flag of Quality.

International Merchant Marine Registry of Belize is proud to be part of the Belize delegation attending the 21st meeting of the Intersessional Working Group on Reduction of GHG Emissions from Ships (ISWG-GHG 21), taking place from April 20–24, 2026.

Ms.Darlin Gaitan, IMMARBE's Technical Officer joins delegates from Belize Port Authority, Jaeda Sutherland, Yvanna Slusher and Clint McCulloch.

This important session continues the global dialogue on advancing measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from international shipping and supports the ongoing work toward a more sustainable and environmentally responsible maritime industry.

Engagement at this level is critical as we collectively work toward practical, effective solutions that balance environmental responsibility with the realities of global trade and maritime operations.
