The NDACC Orange Walk, Ministry of Health & Wellnesss conducted a workshop for teachers from San Juan, San Luis, and Douglas R.C. School, focused on strengthening teacher–parent partnerships and promoting safer classroom environments.

During the session, teachers explored practical strategies for building protective learning spaces and gained valuable insights into Gen Alpha student behaviors, particularly the influence of social media and emerging substance-use risks. Participants were also trained to identify early warning signs of vulnerability among students.

This capacity-building initiative equipped educators with practical tools and approaches to better support student well-being, enhance early intervention, and foster more responsive and supportive school environments.

The National Agriculture and Trade Show is well-known and beloved annual gathering in our country. While mass gatherings can bring some risk of injuries and infectious disease outbreaks, strong preparedness and response can help keep you safe.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness with technical support and training from the Caribbean Public Health Agency will be conducting surveillance for infectious disease and other health risks at the National Agriculture and Trade Show 2026 from Friday to Sunday.

If you are at or have been at the showgrounds and you start feeling ill, please report your symptoms to the Public Health Department through this QR code.

As we head into the long Labour Day weekend for the National Agriculture and Trade Show, remember: if you drink, don’t drive.

Alcohol slows your reaction, affects your judgment, and puts lives at risk. Plan ahead, choose a designated driver, call a taxi, or arrange a safe ride home.

Enjoy the weekend, celebrate responsibly, and keep our roads safe.
”Don’t Drink and Drive. Arrive Alive.”
