‼️🌀Hurricane Hunters in Belize for the Caribbean Hurricane Awareness Tour 2026🌀‼️

This visit was organized by the National Meteorological Service of Belize under the Ministry of the Public Service and Disaster Risk Management, with support from the Department of Civil Aviation. It provided a valuable learning experience for invited guests who had the chance to explore the aircraft and learn about the specialized equipment and techniques used to track and analyze tropical systems.

The Hurricane Hunters are dedicated to recruiting, organizing, and training skilled teams to carry out aerial weather reconnaissance missions providing surveillance of tropical storms and hurricanes. They monitor them across the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, and central Pacific Ocean. They fly directly into the storms and hurricanes to collect critical real-time data, such as wind speed, pressure, and temperature.

✈️ Happy Easter from the Belize Department of Civil Aviation! ✈️

As we celebrate this season of renewal, hope, and new beginnings, we extend our warmest wishes to all. May this Easter inspire optimism, unity, and safe journeys for everyone across our skies and nation.

🛫 A Reminder for Safe Skies This Easter:

1️⃣ Use drones wisely

Drones must be operated responsibly and within approved areas. Avoid flying near airports, aircraft, or crowded public spaces. Always maintain visual line of sight and follow national aviation guidelines to ensure the safety of passengers, crew, and the public.

2️⃣ Be mindful of security checks

Arrive early and cooperate with airport security procedures. These measures are in place to keep everyone safe and ensure smooth travel for all.

3️⃣ Do not travel with dangerous goods

For your safety and that of others, avoid packing hazardous items such as flammable liquids, fireworks, compressed gases, or certain batteries in your luggage. Always check with your airline if unsure.

4️⃣ Be patient during weather delays

Weather conditions can affect flight schedules. We kindly ask for your understanding and patience, as safety always comes first in aviation.

5️⃣ Plan ahead & stay informed

Check your flight status, follow airline guidelines, and stay updated with official aviation advisories to make your journey smoother.

From all of us at the Belize Department of Civil Aviation, have a peaceful and joyful Easter!
