✈️ Historic Milestone for Aviation Safety in Central America 🇧🇿🇬🇹🇭🇳🇸🇻🇳🇮🇨🇷

The Belize Department of Civil Aviation is proudly hosting the first in-person meeting of the Central American State Safety Management Collaborative Group (GCCA-GESO), bringing together State Safety Programme (SSP) Coordinators from Belize, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, and Nicaragua.

This landmark gathering marks a significant step forward in regional aviation safety cooperation, following years of virtual collaboration. The meeting was officially opened by the Director of Civil Aviation, Mr. Nigel Carter, who reaffirmed Belize’s commitment to strengthening regional aviation safety and collaboration and expressed confidence in the work and ability that each State’s SSP Coordinator brings to this historic gathering.

Belize is also honoured to hold the Presidency of the GCCA-GESO through its SSP Coordinator, Mrs. Imelda Bautista-Guerra, who is leading the meeting.

As part of the week’s agenda, the GCCA-GESO convened the inaugural Regional Collaborative Safety Team (CST-R) Meeting in a hybrid format, engaging key civil aviation stakeholders from across Central America such as Tropic Air Ltd., Avianca Costa Rica, TACA El Salvador, Volaris Costa Rica & El Salvador, SANSA, CM Airlines, Helicópteros de Guatemala. The initiative strengthens regional coordination in identifying, sharing, and addressing aviation safety risks collectively.

The Belize Department of Civil Aviation extends a warm welcome and appreciation to all participating delegates and partners for contributing to this historic achievement in regional aviation safety cooperation.
