Our Enforcement Officers, Sanitation Inspectors, and Park Rangers recently participated in a specialized Sight Guide Training workshop aimed at strengthening their ability to safely and effectively assist individuals with visual impairments.

The training, facilitated by BCVI, provided participants with practical techniques to better support people with visual impairments during encounters in public spaces. Highlights included guidance on appropriate communication and interaction, enhanced safety protocols for officers at traffic scenes, and interactive scenario-based exercises designed to build confidence and skills.

By equipping frontline personnel with these skills, we are enhancing the quality of service and support available to persons with visual impairments throughout Belize City.

Preparation is key to keeping our communities safe.

The Belize City Council's Shelter Management Team recently participated in Shelter Management Training facilitated by National Emergency Management Organization NEMO, strengthening the skills and knowledge needed to effectively support residents during emergencies.

This important training ensures that shelter managers are continuously equipped with the knowledge, skills, and understanding of their roles and responsibilities to effectively operate shelters in accordance with national standards.

As hurricane season approaches, we remain committed to preparedness, coordination, and ensuring our shelters are ready to serve when they are needed most.

Our team was on the ground to witness the transformation firsthand, and more importantly, to hear directly from residents who are already feeling the difference.

As we enter the 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season, the Belize City Councilโ€™s CEMO Unit continues to take proactive steps to strengthen the cityโ€™s preparedness and response efforts.

Chief Meteorologist Ronald Gordon visited City Hall and delivered an informative presentation on this yearโ€™s Hurricane Season Outlook, highlighting key forecasts, anticipated weather patterns, and potential impacts expected throughout the season.

City Administration, alongside members of the CEMO Sub-Committee, also participated in the meeting, reaffirming the Councilโ€™s commitment to disaster preparedness, public safety, and the protection of Belize City residents.

Deputy Mayor Eluide Miller proudly delivered the Welcome Remarks at the Belize District National Festival of Arts 2026: Golden Showcase, setting the tone for an unforgettable evening at the Bliss Center.

In his address, he highlighted the incredible journey of our young performers, from months of preparation to earning their place on the golden stage, and reminded us all that the arts are more than performanceโ€ฆ they are a foundation for confidence, discipline, and leadership, while also acknowledging the continued efforts of the National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) in keeping this important tradition alive.

The Belize City Council moved quickly to restore traffic lights at the intersection of Central American Boulevard and Vernon Street, after they were damaged and stolen.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธOur teams acted without delay to ensure the safety and flow of traffic because keeping Belize City moving is our priority.

โš ๏ธBut this is bigger than replacement. City infrastructure belongs to all of us. When it is damaged or taken, it affects every driver, every pedestrian, every resident.
