Sam Oosterhoff MPP for Niagara West
Ontario Minister for Agriculture, Food, and Agri-Business
Working to Protect Ontario Sam is happily married to Keri.

Having grown up in the Niagara Peninsula, Sam has always had a deep appreciation for faith, family, and service to one’s community. Since his first election in 2016, Sam has been working hard to represent the interests, priorities, and concerns of Niagara West families and job creators. On June 29, 2018, Sam was appointed Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Education. In that role, he has taken leadership on areas such as Anti-human trafficking policy, French-language education, student transportation, and educational agencies. Sam’s first Private Member’s Bill became law in December 2020. The Compassionate Care Act mandates the creation of a palliative care framework in Ontario. He also serves as a Member of the Standing Committee on the Legislative Assembly and Member of the Select Committee on Emergency Management Oversight. Their son Sullivan was born in January 2021. Sam is incredibly proud to represent his home community of Vineland, and all of the hard-working families of Niagara West as their MPP. He continues to work hard to ensure a better future for all Ontarians.

At the Canadian Agricultural Investment Summit, I shared a simple message: Ontario is open for agribusiness.

Doug Ford and our government have cut $12B in taxes, $1.3B in red tape costs, and are transforming permitting regimes across the province, to attract investment and support farmers, food processors, and agricultural workers.

We’ll never stop working to cut costs, reduce red tape, and improve access to new markets: to build jobs and opportunities in our sovereign, secure, and self-reliant agrifood sector.

Great to chat with Kody Blois on the sidelines - governments at all levels are aligned on the need to secure more investment.

The Parrish & Heimbecker, Ltd Hamilton export terminal ships over a million tons of Ontario grain every year to global markets, while their state of the art flour mill produces hundreds of thousands of tons of flour for use in the foods we love.

With the new champion for Hamilton-East Stoney Creek Jeff Beattie Beattie, we met with their team to hear about how we can continue the mission: building a stronger, more secure and sovereign agrifood supply chain, that protects jobs and opportunities for workers and farmers.
