Exciting News! CUPS Calgary has an opening for the Governance and Human Resources Committee Chair role on its Board of Directors. For over 35 years and counting, CUPS has supported Calgary’s most vulnerable population, to empower and support those impacted by poverty, trauma and system marginalization.
In addition to the duties of a board member, this role involves chairing the Governance and Human Resources Committee.
The Chair of this Committee is responsible for leading the committee in overseeing CUPS governance framework, including board composition, director nominations, and the development of governance policies and practices.
The Chair guides the committee's work in establishing and reviewing executive compensation programs, succession planning for senior leadership, and supports CUPS’ senior leadership team with human resources strategies that align with the organization's objectives.
Additionally, the Chair ensures effective communication between the committee and the Board, sets the committee's agenda, presides over its meetings, and reports on the committee's activities and recommendations to the Board.
We are seeking a qualified and experienced leader, with a strong background in governance and/or employment or human resources, 10 or more years of experience in a governance or HR role at a firm and/or in industry, and the time and willingness to use their skill set to give back to the Calgary community.
The ideal candidate must reside in Calgary and have the time and flexibility to attend Board and Committee meetings. Previous non-profit or charity experience is preferred. It is estimated that on average the time commitment would be approximately 6-10 hours per month.
