Construction has officially begun on the Walden Fire Station and Library - Calgary's first-ever combined fire station and public library at 969 Walden Drive SE! Yesterday, Library CEO Sarah Meilleur, Mayor Jeromy Farkas, and Councillor Landon Johnston gathered for the groundbreaking ceremony.

This $34.2M community hub will serve Walden, Legacy, Chaparral Meadows, Wolf Willow & surrounding communities with:

✅ Permanent 2-bay fire station (15,000 sq ft) - replacing the temporary station that's served us since 2020

✅ Full-service Calgary Public Library (11,000 sq ft) - collections, kids' spaces, tech, meeting rooms & programming

✅ Parking for staff & public

✅ Uninterrupted emergency response during construction (temp station stays open)

Anticipated opening: 2028

This is the first public civic infrastructure built in Ward 14 since 1976, a major milestone for our growing southeast!

Another PIECE OF ART in our beautiful Wolf Willow! 🐺✨

Right across from Wolf Park stands our third and final bronze wolf sculpture - an incredible piece of art spanning over 6 feet wide and here to stay!

Visit this stunning wolf along Wolf Willow Boulevard, and be sure to check out our other two bronze wolves standing proudly on 194 Ave SE and on 210 Ave SE.

We’re incredibly proud to have these three sculptures call Wolf Willow home and to add another unique piece of public art to Calgary’s vibrant arts scene. ❤️

The tallest slide in Calgary isn’t the only thing that makes Fish Park special! 🐟🛝

Fish Park is also the first playground in Calgary to be built using engineered wood, a strong, durable material that brings the warmth and natural look of wood to this unique play space.

Wolf Willow has welcomed its second bronze wolf sculpture! 🐺

Located at the community entrance along 210 Avenue SE, this newest piece of public art creates another memorable gateway into Wolf Willow.

In this video, we chat with the Behrends Group of Companies about the installation and the work behind bringing the sculpture to life.

Following the arrival of the Howling Wolf sculpture on 194 Avenue SE earlier this year, these sculptures continue the story of the wolf throughout the community and create a distinctive sense of place for residents and visitors.
