Today, Truck 3 and crew - Richard, John, and Jake - was deployed to assist with the Brunswick Complex Wildfire.

We’re proud that our members are able to support wildfire response when called upon, helping protect communities across British Columbia while bringing the training and experience they’ve gained here at home.

As always, this deployment means firefighters are leaving their families, jobs, and daily lives to answer the call. We appreciate their commitment and dedication, and we know our community will join us in wishing them a safe deployment and safe return home.

While our crew is away, the Clinton Fire Department remains ready to respond to emergencies in our community.

Stay safe, and thank you for your continued support of our volunteer firefighters.

This past weekend, ten of our members completed Low Angle Rope Rescue training, enhancing our department’s ability to respond to challenging rescue situations.

A huge thank you to the instructors, Frenchie, Henry, and Regan from Provincial Fire and Safety Training Ltd. for delivering an excellent course and sharing their expertise with our team.

Over two days of hands-on training, our members learned and practiced specialized rope rescue techniques designed to safely assist people in difficult-to-access locations. While we hope these skills are never needed, ongoing training like this ensures we are prepared to respond when our community needs us most.

We are proud of the commitment our members continue to show by dedicating their time to training and professional development.

Interested in learning new skills, serving your community, and being part of a great team? We are always happy to talk with anyone interested in volunteering with our department.

Effective Thursday, April 23, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. (noon) PDT, Category 2 and 3 open fires and associated equipment and activities will be prohibited across the entire Cariboo Fire Centre including the Tsilhqot'in (Xeni Gwet'in) Declared Title Area.

The prohibitions will remain in place until 12:00 noon on October 31, 2026, or until the orders are rescinded.

**Prescribed Burn UPDATE** The Prescribed Burn, shown on this map in orange, is set to take place tomorrow (Thursday, April 9th) beginning at 10:00 AM.
Smoke will be visible from Clinton and surrounding areas, and to motorists travelling along Highway 97.
Crews will ignite ground fuels to remove combustible materials and mimic a naturally occurring wildland fire. Firefighters will closely monitor the fire activity at all times during the burn.
Personnel will remain on-site into the evening to ensure the perimeter of the fire is fully extinguished at the end of each day and will only leave once there is no risk of the fire spreading
Smoke from within the perimeter of the burn may be visible up to 72 hours after ignition.

Yesterday, our members had the opportunity to work alongside BC Wildfire Service on a demonstration prescribed burn.

Prescribed burns are a valuable tool used to reduce fuel loads, help protect communities, and support healthier ecosystems. It was a great experience for our crew to be involved, learn from wildfire professionals, and see these techniques in action.

We’re proud to continue building our skills and strengthening partnerships that help keep our community safe.

Opportunities like this are just one of the many ways our members gain valuable training and experience. If you’ve ever thought about getting involved in the fire service and giving back to your community, we’d love to hear from you.

A new year often brings fresh goals and reflections. For some, that means finding ways to give back, learn new skills, stay active, or become more connected to the community they call home. Volunteering with the fire department is a meaningful way to do all of that, while making a real difference when it matters most.

We’re incredibly thankful for the support of our community throughout the year. Whether it’s a kind word, support at events, or trust when you call us in an emergency, it truly makes a difference and reminds us why we’re proud to serve.

As we step into the year ahead, we look forward to continuing to serve alongside a community that looks out for one another.
