#545 - Please join us in welcoming Cst. Karina Kido to the Cornwall Police Service!

Cst. Kido was sworn in today at the Cornwall Courthouse.

She brings previous policing experience with the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS), enforcement experience as a Park Warden and Animal Control Officer, and a background in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves.

She’s also an avid runner who has completed four ultramarathons!

#545 - The Cornwall Police Service is currently on scene at the intersection of Brookdale Avenue and Ninth Street West following a motor vehicle collision.

The intersection is closed. Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible.

#545 - There were 154 calls for service in the City of Cornwall over the weekend.

Two 17-year-old youths from Cornwall were arrested in separate incidents on Friday. One faces charges after allegedly brandishing an imitation fi***rm and threatening to shoot an individual known to them. The other faces charges after allegedly assaulting a family member, damaging property and uttering threats.

#545 - The Cornwall Police Service will be returning to the area of Walton Street today, Monday, Oct. 19, 2026, as part of its ongoing homicide investigation.

Police are continuing to seek video surveillance footage captured between approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11, and 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 12, from the area of Walton Street south toward the St. Lawrence River.

The CPS would like to thank residents for their cooperation and patience during Saturday’s canvass. Anyone with relevant footage or information is asked to contact D/Cst. Pilon at 613-933-5000, ext. 2766. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Seaway Valley Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Residents can expect an increased police presence in the area today. There is no threat to public safety.

#545 - The Cornwall Police Service extends its deepest condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of the four Canadian Armed Forces members who tragically lost their lives following a fire at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright in Alberta.

Our thoughts are with the entire Canadian Armed Forces community as they navigate this tragic loss.
