During this week’s practice, we had guests from our local community trails society join our training scenario.
“A HUGE thank you to the local Search and Rescue Team for including the Trail Team in one of their bi-weekly training sessions. We participated in a “scenario” where a volunteer doing trail maintenance put a Pulaski into their lower leg!!! Fascinating to see the S&R crew handle the “injury” and transport. We watched them organize, deploy, transport gear, interact with injured person, determine process, deploy rope system, deploy stretcher system, load, transport down steep slope with rope system and finally unload at “ambulance” and then debrief. Fascinating! They have lots of cool stuff!!! And they’re always looking for additional help. Thanks again to a great group of dedicated volunteers!!“
-Don, Trails Manager, Grand Forks Community Trails Society
Thank you to these summer students who have been hired by the Grand Forks Community Trails Society, Phoenix Nordic and the Kettle River Cycling Association, who have completed important trail projects to our trail networks throughout their summer employment. Trail maintenance is one piece of trail safety and recreating responsibly.
