Starting June 1, all Guelph Public Library branch locations (excluding the Bookmobile) will serve as additional drop-off sites for donated laptops and tablets as part of 100 Devices for Digital Equity, powered by the Library and the Guelph Tool Library’s Circular Computer Project.
The goal is to collect 100 used laptops and tablets in June, refurbish them, and get them into the hands of community members who need reliable access to digital technology. If you've got an old laptop or tablet (with its charging cable) gathering dust, bring it to any branch, sign a quick waiver, and the Guelph Tool Library will collect and securely wipe your device before it’s redistributed.
“This partnership with the Guelph Tool Library directly supports the Library’s ongoing work to advance digital equity in our community,” said Jen Lisso, Digital Services Librarian at the Guelph Public Library and Chair of the Guelph Wellington Digital Equity Coalition. “By helping to get refurbished devices into the hands of people who need them, we’re expanding access to online information and supporting our community’s resilience during these challenging economic times.
