We had a surprise visit from Dottie and her buddy at last night’s practice!

The firefighters were just as excited to see her as she was to see us. It was great to see Dottie back to her usual self and of course, causing a little mischief for her owner!

We’re pretty sure she remembers the crew that helped get her out of that well!

And a big thank you for the cupcakes! They were awesome and definitely didn’t last long!

Great to see you, Dottie! Stay out of trouble… or at least try!

Thank You, High Prairie & Area Residents!

A huge thank you to all the Town and County residents who were willing to lend their properties to the High Prairie Fire Department for our training exercises.

Although we were unable to use all of the properties that were offered, we are truly grateful to everyone who took the time to reach out and offer their property. Your willingness to support our training is greatly appreciated and does not go unnoticed.

Your support allows our members to train, improve their skills, and be better prepared to respond when our community needs us most.

And now for the important part… the winner of the Fire Department swag is Stacy!

Congratulations, Stacy! We will be contacting you shortly to arrange getting your prize to you.

Thank you again to everyone who offered their property and supported the High Prairie Fire Department! Your continued support means a lot to our members and our community.

Approved by the Dog Owner:

On August 8, the High Prairie Fire Department, along with Big Lakes County Fire, responded to a call that was definitely going to the dogs!

This time, it wasn’t Timmy in the well, and Lassie wasn’t around to save the day. It was Dottie the dog who found herself in a bit of a deep situation.

Thankfully, all that rope rescue training from June wasn’t just an excuse to play with ropes! Our members put their training to work and successfully retrieved Dottie from the well.

Dottie is now safely back in her owner’s arms and, thankfully, is doing well, no pun intended!

A big thank you to the members of the High Prairie Fire Department and Big Lakes County Fire who assisted with the rescue. Your training, teamwork and willingness to respond when needed makes a difference, whether the emergency has two legs, four legs, or occasionally gets itself stuck somewhere it really shouldn’t be!

Another successful rescue, another happy ending, and one very relieved dog and dog owner.

And yes… Dottie approved this post!

Thank you to everyone who reached out and offered your properties for our live fire training on Monday! Joking about the live fire.
The response from our community was incredible, and we truly appreciate everyone who was willing to help. Unfortunately, we won't be able to use every property, as some are located too far from town for this training exercise. Please know that every offer was appreciated and does not go unnoticed.
If you're out and about Monday evening, keep an eye out for your local firefighters doing what they love, firefighter stuff!
Training like this is invaluable. It gives our members the opportunity to build and sharpen the skills that help keep our community safe when real emergencies happen.
As a small token of our appreciation, everyone who reached out and offered their property will be entered into a draw for some High Prairie Fire Department swag. The winner will be announced on our social media page, if they choose to have their name shared. Once again, thank you for your continued support of the High Prairie Fire Department. We couldn't do it without a community like ours!

The support from our community just keeps coming!

The High Prairie Fire Department would like to extend a sincere thank you to KMW Group Inc. for their generous donation of six pallets of scrap OSB strips to our training facility.

These materials will play an important role in our live fire training scenarios, where firefighters train in controlled, realistic fire conditions. Live fire training is one of the most valuable tools we have for preparing our members for the challenges they may face on emergency scenes. It allows firefighters to experience the heat, smoke, fire behavior, and decision making required during real structure fire, all while training in a safe and controlled environment.

As we continue expanding and improving our training facility, donations like this make a tremendous difference. Every contribution helps reduce the overall cost of construction and training while allowing us to provide high quality, realistic training opportunities for both our department and neighboring fire departments.

The continued support from local businesses demonstrates the commitment our community has to public safety. We are incredibly fortunate to have organizations like KMW Group Inc. investing in the development of our firefighters and helping us build a training facility that will benefit emergency responders for many years to come.

On behalf of the members of the High Prairie Fire Department, thank you, KMW Group Inc., for your generosity and continued support. Your contribution is helping us better prepare firefighters to protect the residents and communities we proudly serve.

Community support like this truly makes a difference. Thank you!

Another Incredible Community Donation!

The High Prairie Fire Department continues to be humbled by the outstanding support from our local businesses.

A huge thank you to Tolko High Prairie for their generous donation of two lifts of OSB to assist with the continued upgrades to our training facility.

This material will be used to build training props and support other projects throughout the training grounds, helping us provide realistic, hands on training for our members and members from other fire departments outside our response area.

With the training facility upgrades estimated at approximately $100,000, donations like this make a tremendous difference by helping reduce costs while allowing us to continue expanding and improving our training capabilities.

Community partnerships like these are invaluable, and we are truly grateful for Tolko High Prairie's continued commitment to helping us build a stronger, safer fire service.

On behalf of all our members, thank you once again, Tolko High Prairie, for your generous donation and continued support. Your investment in our department is an investment in the safety of our entire community.

These additions will help us provide more realistic, hands-on training, ensuring our firefighters are better prepared to protect the communities we proudly serve.

This past weekend, members of the High Prairie Fire Department, along with crews from Big Lakes County, Fairview, County of Northern Lights, Wembley, and Peace River, took part in a packed schedule of hands-on and classroom training.

A big thank you to Tracay Depbw and Matt Smith with the County of Grande Prairie for sharing your expertise and taking the time to support and educate surrounding fire departments.

We also want to extend our appreciation to Bear Mountain Surveys Ltd. and I & P Mechanics for the vehicle donations, we’re finished with them now, you can have them back… just kidding!

Thank you to High Prairie Public Works for providing the wheel loader for the weekend and for everything you do.

And thank you to Mel with Big Lakes County Airport for the use of the shop.

Finally, thank you to everyone else who contributed in any way to making this weekend such a success. Your support is truly appreciated.
