🚴 High Prairie, there's someone special riding through town this Friday — and she needs your cheers!

Kira Young is cycling 1,600 km from Yellowknife to Edmonton's Stollery Children's Hospital, retracing the medical journey she made as a teenager to get answers and treatment for a rare autoinflammatory disease. Her ride shines a light on the distance northern and rural families travel to access pediatric care.

Growing up in Yellowknife, getting the care she needed often meant emergency flights and long journeys to Edmonton — away from home, away from school, and far from everything familiar.
Today, Kira is riding to make that hidden distance visible — on her own terms — while supporting the work of Cassie + Friends (see https://www.facebook.com/CAFsociety ) Canada's only national charity dedicated to children and families affected by juvenile arthritis and other rheumatic diseases.

She arrives in High Prairie on Friday, June 12th at approximately 3:30 PM. Come out and cheer her on outside the Town office!! 👋

🏒🥅 Community Spirit on Display! 🥅🏒

The Town of High Prairie would like to extend a sincere thank you to Mazin Sharkawi and everyone involved in organizing and participating in the recent High Prairie Co-Ed Classic Hockey Tournament.

Through the hard work of volunteers, sponsors, players, and supporters, an incredible $3,234.69 was raised and generously donated to the Town's Future Multiplex Development Reserve Fund.

This contribution demonstrates the pride, dedication, and community spirit that make High Prairie such a great place to live. Every contribution helps move us one step closer toward future recreational opportunities for our residents.
