Get excited, High Prairie!

E.W. Pratt's Travel Club is bringing our Sports Banquet Silent Auction to the entire community!

Beginning Tuesday afternoon, June 9, we will start posting auction items right here on Facebook. We have an amazing variety of items up for grabs, including delicious desserts, unique rentals, gift baskets, appliances, and more!

To place a bid, simply comment your bid amount on the auction post. Bidding will close promptly at 6:30 PM, and winners will be determined using both our online and in-person bids.

All proceeds will support E.W. Pratt students as they prepare for their educational trip to Italy next spring. Every bid helps make this incredible opportunity possible, so please bid generously and support a great cause!

Winners will be contacted through Facebook Messenger (or by phone or email if provided) and will have until 12:00 PM on June 10 to submit payment and claim their prize. Any unclaimed items will then be offered to the next highest bidder.

Congratulations to the E.W. Pratt Chargers Track & Field team!

A total of 26 Chargers athletes competed at the ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐ก ๐–๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ ๐“๐ซ๐š๐œ๐ค & ๐…๐ข๐ž๐ฅ๐ ๐™๐จ๐ง๐ž ๐‚๐ก๐š๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ฉ๐ฌ in Grande Prairie this past weekend. Competing against 26 other schools from across the region, E.W. Pratt finished in 1st place overall. ๐Ÿ†

This victory marks an incredible milestone โ€” the 10th consecutive year that the Chargers have claimed the ๐™๐จ๐ง๐ž ๐‚๐ก๐š๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ฉ ๐ญ๐ข๐ญ๐ฅ๐ž.

Best of luck to the athletes who will be representing E.W. Pratt at the Provincial Track & Field Championships in Calgary on June 5โ€“6. We are proud of your hard work, dedication, and achievements.

๐Ÿ“ Our June ๐ž๐ฑ๐š๐ฆ ๐ฌ๐œ๐ก๐ž๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ž is now available, with exams beginning on Wednesday, June 10.

Please take a few moments to review the schedule carefully and note all exam dates and times. Students are encouraged to arrive on time, come prepared, and make sure they are getting plenty of rest as they head into the final weeks of the school year.

E.W. Pratt art students recently had the opportunity to learn the traditional art of dyed caribou hair tufting during a workshop presented by ๐’๐š๐ง๐๐ข ๐’๐ญ๐จ๐ง๐ž.

The use of twisted caribou and moose hair for decoration is an old Dene (Athapascan) art form, while the technique of tufting was developed in the early 1900s by Mรฉtis women Katherine Bouvier nรฉe Beaulieu and Madeleine Lafferty nรฉe Bouvier of Fort Providence, Northwest Territories.

During the workshop, students learned about the cultural significance of caribou, known in nรชhiyawรชwin as ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐ก๐ค (uh-TIK), and discussed the growing rarity of the species. Sandi shared that her father, despite many years working in remote northern areas and driving trucks, has only seen one caribou near Swan Hills.

Sandi showed students a full caribou hide and a sample of caribou lichen, which serves as the animalโ€™s winter food source. Students also learned how declines in habitat and winter food stores have impacted caribou populations, contributing to their status as a threatened species.

To prepare for the workshop, Sandi processed a commercial hide, known as perle caribou, by cutting, dyeing, and drying the hair used for tufting.
