Big Lakes County residents are invited to review and provide feedback on the draft flood maps and reports for the Kinuso Flood Study.

The GOA is particularly interested in feedback on the draft flood inundation maps, which show areas at risk for different sized floods to help with emergency response, and the draft flood hazard maps, which define floodway and flood fringe areas to help with long term planning.

Residents can review study materials and participate in the engagement process through the following links:

Albertans are invited to provide input on draft reports and flood maps from the Kinuso flood study by July 8, 2026.

June is Men's Mental Health Awareness Month

Big Lakes County Fire Services would like to remind everyone that June is Men's Mental Health Awareness Month. This year's focus is on breaking outdated stigmas, encouraging vulnerability, and promoting important conversations about men's mental health.๐Ÿ’™

It also serves as a reminder to check in on the men in your life and help connect them with support when they need it.

Did you know?

โ–ช๏ธ Men account for nearly 75% of all completed suicides in Canada, making mental health awareness and proactive support a critical public health priority.

โ–ช๏ธ Many men are socialized to suppress their emotions or cope with stress through unhealthy behaviours rather than seeking help.

โ–ช๏ธ Studies show that a vast majority of young adult men experience moderate to high levels of daily stress, highlighting the importance of early intervention and support.

A simple conversation can make a difference. Reach out, check in, and remind the men in your life that asking for help is a sign of strength.

June 10 @ 2:25PM: The card payment system at the Faust Truckfill is currently experiencing service interruptions due to poor cellular connectivity.

If card payments are not working when you arrive, only customers with an approved charge account will be able to access water.

Bulk water is also available at the Kinuso Truckfill, located at the intersection of Highway 2 and Range Road 104.

We will provide an update once card payment service has been restored.
