For 2027 funding, applications must include:
✔ Current list of Board of Directors
✔ Financial statements approved at your last AGM (ex. 2025 statements for 2027 funding)
✔ AGM minutes
✔ Current & projected operating budgets
✔ Most recent proof of filing

🎁Each year, the Big Lakes Christmas Angels provide Christmas hampers with a turkey dinner, breakfast items for Christmas morning, and gifts for children under 16 to eligible County residents.

🎄Applications are open from October 1 - December 8, 2026, at all Big Lakes County FCSS offices. We would not be able to run this program for families and individuals in need if it were not for the generosity of donors.

❄️If you would like to help make Christmas brighter for families in our community, monetary donations are welcomed at all Big Lakes FCSS and County Administration offices. Help us make the holidays brighter for those in need!

📣Notice of Public Hearing: Land Use Bylaw Amendment No. 24-2026

Council for Big Lakes County is considering a proposed amendment to the Big Lakes County Land Use Bylaw No. 26-2024. The purpose of proposed Bylaw No. 24-2026 is as follows:

1. Add “Automobile Repair Services” as a Discretionary Use under Section 3.4 Agriculture (AG) District.

Copies of the proposed Land Use Bylaw Amendment may be examined by contacting the office of the County Administration Office between the hours of 8:15 a.m. to noon and 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

The Public Hearing will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 12:45 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Big Lakes County Administration Office at 5305 – 56 Street, High Prairie.

📣Notice of Public Hearing: On Proposed Bylaw to Adopt the Swan Hills Energy Corridor Area Structure Plan

Council for Big Lakes County is considering the adoption of Bylaw 23-2026, the Swan Hills Energy Corridor Area Structure Plan Bylaw. The purpose of proposed Bylaw 23-2026 is to establish a flexible statutory framework that guides coordinated industrial development and supporting infrastructure within the Plan Area.

Alternatively, copies of the proposed Area Structure Plan may be inspected at the Big Lakes County Administration Building between the hours of 8:15 am to 12:00 noon and 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm Monday to Friday.

The Big Lakes County Organizational Meeting will take place on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers.

This important meeting helps set the direction for the upcoming year, ensuring Council’s leadership is aligned with the needs and goals of the community.

At this meeting, Council will:

▪ Review and update key bylaws and policies
▪ Appoint members to over 50 committees
▪ Elect the Reeve and Deputy Reeve

Big Lakes County is now accepting sealed bids on used Public Works Vehicles and Equipment.

All items can be viewed at the Public Works yard Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sealed bids will be accepted until 1:30 p.m., Monday, October 27, 2026.

A public opening will follow in Council Chambers. All items are sold as is, where is, and must bee removed by Monday, November 9, 2026.
