Happy Birthday, Monet!!! 🐕🧁🥳

10 YEARS OLD! In dog years, that's about... time to consider retirement for many? We're so excited for our first ever to be moving towards that well deserved transition later this year.

Our team's very proud of Monet, and her incredible impact! 💓🐾

A beautiful day to celebrate a beautiful girl! 🌞🐕🥳

It was delightful kicking off Monet’s 10th celebrations with a little paw-ty at the Boathouse this afternoon. It's hard to beat quality time with some of your best fur buddies. 🐾

Let's prepare to shower our amazing trailblazing facility dog with birthday wishes THIS SUNDAY! 🎈🦴🎉

Our 2026 Annual Meeting is in the books! A big to the 39 humans and our 3 facility dogs who attended in person or online last night. 😃🐕

It was wonderful hearing about our 2025-26 fiscal year from key members of our Board and staff, along with our auditor, Clarke Starke & Diegel LLP. 🌟

This past year, we supported 975 kids and 761 caregivers in Waterloo Region, Guelph, and Wellington County. This fostered healing and empowerment for brighter futures.

Perhaps the biggest applause came in recognizing we avoided having a waitlist for the entire year! This meant immediate support, which every child deserves. 👏

Much was shared for everyone who makes our services possible for young victims. This includes donors, funders, sponsors, partners, volunteers, and more.

We'd also like to express our appreciation to the Hampton by Hilton (Waterloo/St. Jacobs location) for the complimentary use of the meeting space yesterday!

Together, we're making a real and lasting impact for children and youth, and their families. 🩵

Seeking sponsor for a Professional Cuddler! ☺️🐕

Baker is the 3rd facility dog to ever join Child Witness Centre. He is following in the BIG paw-prints of Monet - a huge as the first of her kind to work in the criminal justice system in the Region of Waterloo. 🐾

Baker is transitioning into Monet's role of offering invaluable during the court process (after charges laid), while his paw-league Brady will continue providing support during investigations at the Child & Youth Advocacy Centre.

🩵 We'd love for YOU to be Baker's sponsor! He's asking for $8,000 to make a impact for local kids and families. Read his full request at the link below, and contact us today.

What an amazing celebration for the 10th anniversary of the Child & Youth Advocacy Centre (CYAC) of Waterloo Region last night! 🎈🍔🎉

🌟 Alongside representatives from Family & Children's Services of the Waterloo Region and Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS), our Child Witness Centre (CWC) team was delighted to welcome many wonderful partners, supporters, allies, board members, past staff, and family members.

🌟 The festivities kicked off with a delicious dinner gifted to us by the incredibly generous and talented ChefD at the Victoria Park Pavilion in , in showing his support for the work we do.

🌟 Meaningful messages were shared by Matt Demarte (Sergeant at WRPS & former CWC board member), Laura Muirhead (former CWC Executive Director & ongoing supporter), and Robin Heald (CWC Executive Director).

🌟 It was an honour to receive recognition certificates from Karen Redman (Regional Chair) on behalf of Region of Waterloo and Wendy Creighton (Office Manager) on behalf of Kelly DeRidder MP Kitchener Centre on this milestone occasion.

It's difficult to fathom how thousands of young people and families have been impacted at the CYAC over the past decade, during investigations of abuse and crime! Our entire community is safer and stronger because of this best practice model. ❤️‍🩹

➡️ A full media release to come soon.

P.S. Worth noting is NOT ONE... NOT TWO... but ALL THREE of our awesome facility dogs attended this celebration! Can you spot Baker, Brady, and Monet? 🐕🐾

Sometimes, the first step in a child’s healing journey doesn’t begin with words. Instead, it begins with a quiet presence… a gentle nudge… a wagging tail. ❤️‍🩹🐾

Trauma can largely impact how a child handles stress, making it harder for them to regulate their emotions, feel safe, or communicate what they’ve experienced.

That’s where our facility dogs can come in. Specially trained, they support children and youth during some of the most difficult moments in their lives. 🐕

Our amazing dogs play an essential role in helping children feel safe, less stressed, and more comfortable to build trust. And when this happens, healing can begin.

Give healing today and have it matched by Badge of Hope. It’s difficult to describe the impact you’ll make for at least one young person and their family. 🩵
