Kitscoty RCMP are warning residents after a suspicious incident in Marwayne.

Police say a man showed up at a home claiming to work for ATCO Electric, asking the homeowner to remove a lock from electrical equipment so he could shut off the power. When asked for identification, the man refused.

Mounties say the homeowner became suspicious and did not comply. The man then left, and ATCO later confirmed it had no workers assigned to the area.

The suspect is described as having a medium complexion, about six feet tall, weighing 190 to 200 pounds, with curly black hair and a beard. He was wearing jeans, a button-up shirt, and a blue vest with yellow reflective stripes, and was driving a newer two-door white Dodge pickup.

RCMP are reminding residents to always verify ID before allowing anyone access to their property, and to report any similar incidents.

Update on our road maintenance-Crews will be on 53,54,55,and 56 Avenues this afternoon with crack filling.

Please watch for personnel on the streets.

The Village of Kitscoty is continuing our Road Improvement Program with 48th Avenue (south side) with crack filling and a surface treatment to add life to the road surface.

Traffic may be one way at times to accommodate work being done this week.

Please obey traffic signs and personnel on the roadway.

The Village of Kitscoty is looking for volunteers/groups to be part of the Lloydminster Parade on July 8th. If you are interested or know a group that may be interested, or simply would like further information, please let our office know. Note: the Village will not be providing transportation to and from the event and all children will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult.
