We are aware that BCWFS will be lifting the ban on campfires (Cat 1) on Thursday.
North Oyster Fire Rescue will NOT be lifting the campfire ban in its fire protection area.
All open burning (Cat 1, 2 & 3) will remain prohibited in the North Oyster Fire Rescue Fire Protection Area!

🔥 OPEN FIRE BAN — EFFECTIVE MAY 7 🔥
The Coastal Fire Centre will be enacting an open fire prohibition effective Thursday, May 7, 2026 at 12:00 PM.
This prohibition includes:
🚫 Category 1 open fires (Campfires - Prohibited for Coastal Fire Centre Area except Haida Gwaii)
🚫 Category 2 open fires (Backyard Fires - Prohibited for Entire Coastal Fire Centre Area)
🚫 Category 3 open fires (Industrial Fires - Prohibited for Entire Coastal Fire Centre Area)

Please follow all restrictions and help reduce wildfire risk in our community. Conditions can change quickly, and everyone has a role to play in keeping our area safe.
