Can we talk?
Lately, it feels like we’re showing up when you need us, but we need to be honest, we’re left feeling disappointed with what we’re finding.
We’re seeing people make choices that put themselves, their neighbours, our firefighters and our community at risk.
🔥 Burning tires and garbage? That’s not a safe or acceptable way to dispose of waste.
🚨 Missing, outdated, improperly maintained or disabled safety equipment? Smoke alarms, CO alarms, fire extinguishers and other life safety equipment only works when it’s maintained and ready to do its job.
📟 False fire alarms? We’re responding to too many alarms because fire alarm systems and commercial cooking equipment aren’t being properly maintained.
Every unnecessary response takes firefighters away from their families, their workplaces and the possibility of a real emergency.
We’ll keep showing up. That’s what we do.
But we need you to show up, too.
Show up by maintaining fire protection equipment.
Show up by following the rules.
Show up by being prepared for fire safety inspections.
Show up by making safe choices.
Because fire safety isn’t just the fire department’s responsibility. It’s a shared responsibility.
