Please be advised firefighters from North Perth’s Listowel fire station will be conducting its annual road toll in support of Muscular Dystrophy Canada on Friday, October 9 from 3pm until dusk on Main Street, Listowel.

Monies collected for Muscular Dystrophy by the Listowel station for over the years have totalled more than $100,000.00.

Lithium-ion batteries power many everyday devices, but misuse can lead to fire risks. They pack a lot of power into a small space. If they are damaged, defective or used incorrectly, they can overheat, catch fire, or even explode.

Lithium-ion batteries can be a fire hazard when improperly charged.
Avoid overcharging. Keep your battery in sight when charging and unplug it
when charging is complete.

Thank you to those who attended our Fire Prevention Open House at the North Perth Public Library today! We had a great time learning about battery safety with pop rocks candy and circuit making kits. We got creative making super hero masks, watching a live fire demonstration, and taking turns using a real fire hose.

Special thanks to DC McEwen, FPO Wolske, TO Dozois, Lieutenant Venter, and Firefighters Weyers and Campbell for helping out with this event.

Remember- safe charging is a superpower 🦸‍♂️👨‍🚒🔋

Last week, residents, staff, and the Board of Directors at Maitland Terrace showed us how well prepared they are to evacuate in the event of a fire. They absolutely nailed their fire drill!

We returned with giveaways, which Maitland Terrace staff turned into a Fire Prevention Week display.

Keeping our seniors safe, informed, and actively involved in our community is important. We enjoyed our time with residents last week, and look forward to our next visit.
