Mission Search & Rescue (MSAR) is a registered non-profit organization in the province of BC All members are 100 per cent volunteer and are on call 24/7.

Mission Search & Rescue (MSAR) is a registered non-profit organization in the province of British Columbia. Its primary function is that of a community resource to assist the RCMP, the BC Ambulance Service and the BC Coroners Service in a variety of search and rescue functions. We currently have over 20 members, and growing larger in numbers every year. We are a strong team of volunteer profession

als. All funds for new equipment and training is acquired by fundraising projects, plus the support of local service groups, government funding programs, and by the generous support of members of the general public.

MSAR members were busy this last week. In a span of three days, MSAR responded to three separate calls, each presenting its own unique challenges and circumstances.

The variety of these incidents highlights the importance of the weekly training and ongoing skills development our members commit to throughout the year.

MSAR members have been busy over the last couple of months. MSAR had several members practicing and honing in their rope skills. The practice has paid off. MSAR now has 9 new Level 1 Rope Rescue Technicians, 1 new Rope Rescue Team Leader, and a member about to take the Rope Rescue Level 2 Evaluation. Congrats to all the members!

Thursday evening, MSAR was tasked for a rescue of a male who had fell a considerable distance in the East Stave backcountry. The subject was stable but had sustained injuries which made travel difficult.
Mission SAR members were able to locate the subject, provide first aid, and stretcher him to a helicopter for a medical transport.

MSAR is on scene providing first aid at the Heads or Trails Bear mountain trail races this weekend. Great job to all the trail runners yesterday. Good luck to all the riders today!

MSAR had three members attend the Southern Interior Rope Exercise (SIRE), a rope rescue training event hosted by Wells Gray Search and Rescue. SIRE gave our members a chance to practice and enhance technical rope skills Also SIRE gives members a great opportunity to network with other SAR team members.
