ICYMI - Yesterday, Bill 9, Municipal Accountability Act, passed third reading. We were pleased to see data from our harassment and incivility sector research referenced in the third reading debate with MPPs speaking to the importance of protections for municipal staff.

The passing of this bill is a step forward towards better local government accountability; however, we remain concerned about gaps in the legislation where more can be done to address the safety and well-being of municipal professionals.

The AMCTO Executive Diploma in Municipal Management (EDMM) Equity scholarship will provide one annual full program registration to an individual from an equity-deserving group to support recipients' municipal professional goals, leadership learning and development.

The EDMM is a comprehensive, 10-month career development program designed specifically for municipal managers. It provides foundational knowledge, skills, and competencies required to be a successful local government manager and is ideal for professionals with three or more years of supervisory experience, mid-level managers, and high-potential municipal employees on track to take on senior management or leadership roles.

The last day to submit a scholarship application is Monday, May 25, for the fall 2026 program term.
