🚨 New article in The Water Diplomat – Interactive Dialogue C, a youth perspective

The climate crisis is a water crisis. As heatwaves, wildfires and droughts destabilize the hydrological cycle, breaking down the silos between climate, biodiversity and water becomes urgent, connecting fragmented multilateral tracks into coordinated action. 🍃

As the international community prepares for the 2026 UN Water Conference, young leaders are mobilizing around Interactive Dialogue C “Water for planet”, making the case that water is the connective thread running through the climate, biodiversity and desertification agendas. And that closing the implementation gap on SDG 6 hinge on nature-based solutions, stronger governance synergies, and genuinely intergenerational leadership. ✨

🚨 Our 2025 annual activity report « Acting for water in a changing world” is now available ! 💧

2025 has been a year of mobilization, consolidation, and adaptation in a world undergoing profound change. As crises continue to transform our societies, only collective action can bring about solutions, increasingly emerging from younger generations and local communities.

This year, our work was structured around three strategic priorities:
🤝 Supporting communities and strengthening local capacity
👫 Making young generations partners in transformation
🗣️ Strengthening cooperation and the voice of civil society in decision-making spaces

As the global water community gathers in Stockholm around this year’s theme, “Water for people,” the International Secretariat for Water (ISW)’s networks and partners are mobilized to ensure that young people and civil society are not only represented, but actively shaping the decisions that will define the future of water governance.

With the 2026 UN Water Conference approaching, Stockholm is a critical moment to connect the dots between today’s commitments and tomorrow’s implementation.

Through the Global Youth Movement for Water, catalysed by ISW, young water leaders will be present in key spaces throughout the week, advocating for the institutionalization of youth participation in global water governance.
