The person in this newly created executive position will act as a unifying force and catalyst to stimulate the industry’s approaches to audience-centered design.

The Senior Director will be responsible for developing and implementing Telefilm’s audience strategy. Through close collaboration with departments across Telefilm, the Senior Director will build expertise and alignment around audience strategies, emerging trends and foresight, while supporting initiatives related to promotion, research and audience data analysis.

It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Anne Claire Poirier, a pioneer of feminist cinema.

Anne Claire Poirier was one of the first francophone women filmmakers at the National Film Board of Canada, where she worked for nearly 40 years as a director, screenwriter, editor and producer. She also played a key role in creating the NFB’s 'En tant que femmes' program, a series of films by women, about women and for women.

Across more than 30 films and documentaries, she explored subjects that were rarely shown on screen. She approached them with honesty, sensitivity and empathy. Films such as 'De mère en fille', 'Mourir à tue-tête' and the deeply personal 'Tu as crié Let Me Go!' helped bring important issues into public conversation.

Through her films, her work as a producer and her support for women filmmakers, she opened doors for future generations and leaves a lasting mark on Quebec and Canadian cinema. Our thoughts are with her loved ones.

For 50 years, the Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) has celebrated animation and the artists who bring it to life. Telefilm Canada is proud to have supported the Festival for more than 25 years and to be part of this milestone anniversary.

Our team also took part in The Animation Conference, which brought together industry leaders from around the world to discuss the future of animation.
