Richardson Side Road Update:

Please note Richardson Side Road will be open to traffic by the end of day today (Friday, Oct. 16) at 5 p.m.

Due to inclement weather this week, paving has been delayed with an indefinite completion within the next one to two weeks. We will confirm the dates as soon as the contractor notifies us.

The road surface will be maintained in gravel during this time. Paving work will be conducted with the use of traffic control personnel once it begins.

No further closures will be required. Portable message signage will be updated this afternoon to reflect the road opening.

Thank you for your patience as this road work nears completion!

This year’s theme is the International Year of the Woman Farmer.
The Township recognizes the important role and contribution of rural and indigenous women in enhancing agricultural and rural development and improving food security in our community and worldwide.

The Municipal Office and Code Road Landfill are CLOSED today, October 12th for Thanksgiving.
Council and staff would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
There are no changes to the schedule for curbside collection due to the holiday.

2026 Municipal Election

Voter Information Letters (VILs) have been mailed this week. Your VIL will provide you with all the information you will need to vote by internet or telephone any time during the voting period of October 19th at 8:30 p.m. to October 26th at 8:00 p.m. The VIL will also outline where and when the Revision/Help Center will be open if you need assistance.

If you do not receive a VIL by October 14th, please contact the Municipal Office at 613-267-6500.

Have you seen these fluffy seed heads by the side of the road? 🌾

While they may look appealing in seasonal décor, this plant is recognized as Canada’s worst invasive plant – invasive phragmites (European Common Reed).

Invasive phragmites is an invasive perennial grass that harms Ontario's wetlands, roadsides and wildlife habitat. By outcompeting native plants and reducing biodiversity, it continues to have significant impacts on ecosystems across the province.

Please avoid using invasive phragmites in your Fall and Thanksgiving arrangements. Moving or displaying the plant can unintentionally spread seeds and contribute to the growth of new infestations.

You can help reduce the spread of invasive phragmites by learning how to identify it and by following these best management practices:

❌ Do not plant invasive phragmites. Native phragmites has the same appearance and does not pose an ecological risk.

✅ Use only native or non-invasive plants in your garden.

❌ Do not compost invasive phragmites. Both seeds and rhizomes (horizontal plant stems that grow underground) can survive and grow in compost.

✅ Report any sightings to provincial reporting platforms such as EDDMapS or the Invading Species Hotline at 1-800-563-7711.

Lanark County Council has recently received an update on the spread of phragmites in the County and has asked staff to bring forward a two-year management plan that includes partnering with private landowners and local municipalities with a goal to reduce phragmites by 50%.

Please note that the Code Road Landfill winter hours will take effect on Monday, November 2, 2026.
Monday, Tuesday & Friday 10am-5pm and Saturday 10am-1pm.

The ReUse Centre will be closed for the winter season effective Monday, November 2, 2026 and will re-open in May of 2027.
