Congratulations Amaya Kubo on successfully completing Camp Ignite 2026.

We first met Amaya after she completed a successful application, physical abilities test, and panel interview to become a member of our Junior Firefighter Program.

This young lady has a tremendous heart and an undeniable spirit. She never turns away from a challenge.

We are incredibly proud of everything she has accomplished and can’t wait to see what the future holds for her.

More than 80 families joined us for FireSmart Storytime at the Port Moody Public Library!

Together with our friends at the library and our special guest, Ember, we read a story from the Wildfire Resiliency Readers’ kit before forming a parade and marching to the firehall for plenty of hands-on activities.

Families explored the Tower truck, sprayed water from a fire hose, and participated in a colouring contest featuring Ember practicing FireSmart principles.

BC FireSmart Home Assessments are a great opportunity for you to learn about what simple steps you can take at home to help reduce wildfire risk in Port Moody.

Congratulations, Amaya!

Port Moody Fire Rescue is proud to sponsor Amaya as she attends Camp Ignite, a program that introduces young women to careers in the fire service.

Amaya was a standout participant at our Junior Firefighter Program where she was selected by her peers as the class Valedictorian.

We are excited to see Amaya continue to pursue her goals, develop her skills, and connect with inspiring mentors through Camp Ignite.

We will be bringing the FireSmartBC Wildfire Resiliency Readers’ Kit to life with a storytime, a visit from Ember the Fire Fox 🦊, and a parade to the firehall for a hands-on fire truck experience 🚒
