Not every day you get the opportunity to move a piece of Canadian history.

Recently, Team Blue had the privilege of transporting a 1946, 13 ton logging tug built by Russel Brothers of Owen Sound, Ontario. This historic vessel had been sitting since the summer of 2018, and we were proud to help move it to begin its next chapter.

Built nearly 80 years ago, this tug represents an important part of Ontario’s logging and marine heritage. Projects like this remind us that we’re not just moving equipment, we’re helping preserve the stories and history that helped shape Northern Ontario.

A special thank you to OutdoorRob for documenting the move and sharing the journey with his viewers. He put together an excellent video showcasing both the history of the vessel and the work involved in relocating it.

Traffic is moving on HWY 17 west of the Shabaqua 11/17 junction.

Please be advised traffic control remains in place with one lane closed and alternating traffic while our crews continue to work safely at the emergency scene.

Please slow down, follow all signage and directions from traffic control personnel, and use extra caution when travelling through the area tonight.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation while emergency responders work to reopen the highway safely.

Thank you to everyone who respected the signs and slowed down.

Traffic control is currently in place on HWY 11 between Lake Helen and East McKirdy with one lane open.

Please slow down, stay alert, and obey all posted warning signs and directions from traffic control personnel. Crews are actively working on the highway and everyone deserves to make it home safely at the end of the day.
