Our September Evergreen Health Centre services calendar is here! Please note a few important updates:

🦷 Adult Dental services are restarting in September! We’re now accepting referrals. Please call or email us for more information.

📋 Same-day sign-ups: Patients are encouraged to sign up in person on the day services begin, starting at 9:00 am. In-person sign-ups receive priority. Those who sign up by phone or email will be placed on a waitlist and contacted after 11:00 am to confirm their appointment.

📌 Holiday closure: The health centre will be closed on Monday, September 7.

International Overdose Awareness Day is an opportunity to remember the lives lost to addiction, recognize the impact on families and communities and challenge the stigma which can prevent people from seeking support.

At Yonge Street Mission, we believe everyone deserves compassion, dignity and care. Together, we can work toward a community where no one is left behind.

One moment can change a life.

John was just 11 years old when his father, a doctor, brought him to Yonge Street Mission for the first time.

At first, he was scared. It was his first time seeing the realities of how poverty affects people up close.

But as he watched his father treat every person with kindness, dignity and respect, John realized something that stayed with him for the rest of his life: community members experiencing poverty weren't so different from him. They were neighbours who deserved care, compassion and hope.

That early experience inspired a lifetime of giving back. Over the next almost 80 years, John volunteered, participated in YSM events and fundraised more than $250,000 to support neighbours experiencing poverty in Toronto.

Although John has passed away, his legacy lives on through the countless lives he helped change. John's story is a reminder you're never too young to make a difference.

Setting boundaries can be difficult but it’s a skill you can learn and practise.

Join YSM Cornerstone’s Building Boundaries Through Art Therapy group, a supportive online space where participants can explore boundaries through creative expression.

Through art therapy, participants will have an opportunity to reflect on their relationships, explore their emotions and develop tools for setting healthy boundaries.

YSM's Cornerstone Family Services offer 12 free sessions of ongoing counselling to help you navigate life’s challenges. Whether you’re looking for individual, group, couples or family therapy, our team is here to listen and guide you toward healing and hope.

In-person sessions are available Monday to Friday, from 9am–5pm. Online options are also available.

We’re so grateful for the St. Paul’s Bloor Street community and their incredible support of YSM’s Backpack Drive! 🎒

Their generosity helped provide more than 100 backpacks filled with school supplies for children and youth in our community, and their young volunteers even helped deliver them to YSM.

This is what community looks like: people coming together to make sure children can start the school year feeling prepared, confident and cared for.
