The Consulate General of Israel in Toronto and Western Canada was pleased to host the Canada × Israel: Venture Deal-Access Breakfast in partnership with Alpha Partners.

Bringing together angel investors, venture capitalists, family offices, and private investors, the discussion showcased the strength of Israel’s innovation ecosystem, as well as explored emerging venture opportunities between Canada and Israel, avenues for accessing high-potential deal flow, and pathways to sustainable growth.

Thousands of people filled the streets this weekend to walk, and to show up for the Jewish community and for Israel 🇮🇱

Since October 7th, for every act of hatred, there have been acts of courage. For every attempt to isolate the Jewish community, people of faith and conscience have chosen to build bridges instead. For every voice seeking to delegitimize Israel, friends have stepped forward in solidarity.

’s Walk with Israel is more than a march. It’s a reminder that we are not alone.

At ChaiTech UNITE during Toronto Tech Week, more than 250 founders, investors, operators, and ecosystem leaders came together for a day dedicated to collaboration, resilience, and shaping what comes next.

From thought-provoking keynotes on building meaningful networks and scaling globally to inspiring conversations celebrating founders, the Jewish innovation ecosystem, and its allies, the event showcased the power of bringing diverse voices together around a shared vision for innovation and growth.

One of the day’s standout moments was the panel discussion, “A Journey to Israel Through the Lens of Jewish & Allied Investors.” Featuring Consul General Idit Shamir, moderated by Neil Greinberg, and joined by members of the investor delegation organized by the Consulate in partnership with Storytime Capital, the discussion offered reflections on a remarkable week-long journey through Israel’s vibrant tech and innovation ecosystem.

During the trip, 20 Canadian investors traveled more than 1,200 kilometers across eight cities, gaining firsthand insight into the people, companies, and institutions driving innovation in Israel. In just one week, the delegation met with more than 20 organizations and venture funds, over 50 startups, two hospitals, and one university, fostering meaningful dialogue, new partnerships, and deeper cross-border connections.

The panel explored the delegation’s objectives, key takeaways from the visit, and the lasting impact the experience had on participants. Delegates shared how the journey broadened their perspectives, strengthened relationships, and provided a deeper understanding of Israel’s innovation ecosystem—an experience many described as both eye-opening and transformative.

Consul General Idit Shamir was pleased to meet with Minister of Ontario Ministry of Health Sylvia Jones to discuss healthcare innovation and opportunities to strengthen cooperation between Ontario and .

Their conversation focused on shared priorities including modernization, digital innovation, and the role of new technologies in improving patient care and system efficiency. Shlomo Mansour survived the Farhud pogrom in Iraq as a child.

Decades later, after building his life in Israel, he was kidnapped by Hamas on October 7 from Kibbutz Kissufim and murdered in captivity.

From Baghdad in 1941 to October 7, antisemitism continues to cost innocent Jewish lives.
