25 years after the September 11 attacks, the U.S. Consulate General Toronto was honored to open 25 Years of Healing Hearts, featuring John Coburn’s drawings on loan from the 9/11 Memorial & Museum. The opening included a conversation with Coburn and Peter Mansbridge, plus an original song performed by Canadian actor Aidan Devine.

Now open to the public, the exhibition is a moving tribute to the victims, survivors, and first responders of 9/11.

This September, US Consulate Toronto will commemorate the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, with a special exhibition "25 Years of Healing Hearts: A Tribute to 9/11 in Drawings" by Toronto-based artist John Coburn.

Opening September 1 at 918 Bathurst Centre for Culture, Arts, Media & Education in Toronto, the exhibition includes Coburn’s artwork on loan from the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in New York and additional works from his personal collection.

Created at Ground Zero and throughout New York City following the 9/11 attacks, Coburn’s pen-and-ink drawings capture extraordinarily intimate moments of healing, hope, and human dignity as recovery efforts unfolded. Years after Coburn created the Healing Hearts collection, a devastating fire destroyed virtually everything in his studio. The drawings, stored together in a leather briefcase, were the only items recovered. Though burned around the edges, the works remained intact.

🏒 At the 2026 JCC Maccabi Games in Vaughan, 🇺🇸 hockey player Chelsey Goldberg led clinics on August 4-5 for hundreds of young athletes from Canada and around the world. Chelsey Goldberg is a former professional player, NCAA Division I standout at Northeastern University, and Team USA Maccabiah Maccabi USA captain who is passionate about the growth of women’s hockey.

U.S. Consulate Toronto was proud to support Chelsey’s participation at the Games Toronto, which brought together more than 2,000 Jewish teen athletes from around the world. Over the two days, Chelsey worked with young players on skills while also sharing lessons from her own career about teamwork, confidence, perseverance, leadership, and overcoming antisemitism.

It was an incredible evening as CG Hunt hosted an event recognizing the vital work of the Discover America Canada Committee, which promotes Canadian travel and tourism to the United States.

When the world stood still on 9/11, the people of Gander, Newfoundland opened their doors and their hearts to nearly 7,000 stranded passengers. Consul General Hunt was proud to join the ICFF Canada screening of the documentary “You Are Here: A Come From Away Story” — a powerful reminder that the U.S.-Canada bond isn’t just diplomatic. It’s deeply human.
