The Neighbourhood Group (TNG) Community Services is a fusion of Central Neighbourhood House, Neighbourhood Link, and St. Stephen's Community House. With 200+ years of combined history, we address the critical issues affecting low-income people in our community: hunger, homelessness, conflict, unemployment, loneliness, youth violence, mental health, and the successful integration of immigrants.

Youth unemployment is at a critical point.

With tens of thousands of young people competing for a limited number of seasonal jobs, many are struggling to gain the experience they need to enter the workforce. Recent reports from the CNE job fair underscore the growing challenge, with nearly 50,000 applicants competing for approximately 5,000 seasonal positions.

At The Neighbourhood Group Community Services, we continue to advocate for 10,000 youth summer jobs across Toronto because meaningful employment is more than a paycheque. It provides young people with valuable work experience, mentorship, professional networks, and pathways to long-term success.

When youth have access to opportunities, communities are stronger. Investing in youth employment helps reduce barriers, strengthens families, and creates safer, more connected neighbourhoods.

Together with the Toronto Youth Cabinet, we remain committed to ensuring every young person has the opportunity to build their future.

Our VP of Independent Living and Seniors Services joined a “Coffee with PSWs” session, engaging in meaningful conversations with some of our incredible frontline staff, the backbone of home and community care.

By the end of the session, staff shared how much they valued being heard and having the opportunity to openly discuss their experiences, challenges, and ideas.

What stood out most was their unwavering commitment to a client first approach and their passion for supporting others. We heard inspiring stories from team members with 3, 5, 9, and even 16 years of service, each reflecting deep dedication, compassion, and resilience that make quality care possible every day.

Thank you to all our frontline staff for the extraordinary work you do. Your voices matter and your commitment continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our clients and communities.

Tomorrow is the day! 💙

We've already raised more than $53,000 for vulnerable seniors, but we still need your help to reach our goal.

Every donation supports programs and services that help seniors like Kim live independently and with dignity.

Your support helps seniors access programs and services that make a meaningful difference every day. From personal care and meal programs to recreational activities and supportive housing, these services help seniors and people with disabilities stay healthy, connected, and independent.

Join us tomorrow, Thursday, June 25, from 10 AM–12 PM at 349 Ontario Street, Toronto, for the TNG Challenge. Enjoy chair yoga, games, treats, and the chance to connect with some of the seniors whose lives are impacted by your support.

This year’s theme, “Ignite Volunteerism,” celebrates the passion, energy, and impact our volunteers bring to the community.

We marked National Volunteer Week with a camping-inspired experience filled with nostalgic camp games, themed activities, and cozy camp-style treats, including baked potatoes as part of dinner!

This Earth Day, we’re reminded that caring for our planet starts with everyday actions. This year’s theme, Our Power, Our Planet, highlights how small, collective efforts can create real change.

At TNG, we believe in building sustainable habits together - from greening our spaces to reducing waste and rethinking how we use what we have.
