🌿📖 Discover Métis culture through storytelling, conversation and creativity.

Join us for The Giving Tree: Exploring Indigenous Stories, a special family storytime featuring The Giving Tree by Métis author and illustrator Leah Dorion.

Through this beautifully illustrated story, children and their caregivers will explore themes of kindness, sharing, respect, courage, family and caring for Mother Earth, while learning about Métis values and connections to the natural world.

After the story, families will take part in a creative activity inspired by the book’s themes and teachings. 🎨🌳

📚🌏 Why does Taiwan matter to Canada — and to the future of global democracy?

Join us at WBPL for an afternoon with author and geopolitical analyst George S. Takach as he discusses his latest book, Inspired by Taiwan: Why Supporting Taiwan Matters for Global Democracy.

Drawing on images, research and experiences from his travels, George will explore Taiwan’s democracy, its place in an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape, its relationship with the United States, and why he believes Canadians should be paying attention.

The presentation will be followed by an opportunity for questions and discussion.

Join us for the next Write Connection: Where to End Your Story, where we’ll explore the falling action and resolution that bring a story to a satisfying close — or leave just the right door open for what comes next.
