Thanks to the incredible support of our community, we're putting 30 backpacks and 250 books into the hands of young readers this summer. ❤️

📚 Whitby High School Students — Looking for Volunteer Hours? 📚

I'm the Steward of the Whitby Little Free Library , and I could use your help!

Due to health limitations, I'm looking for a student volunteer to assist with cataloguing and organizing our collection of donated children's books — approximately 200 in total. This is a meaningful opportunity to support a community resource.

👤 Who: Whitby Little Free Library
✏️ What: Photographing ISBN numbers on the backs of children's books and helping organize the collection on the bookshelves
📅 When: As soon as possible — the day and time are completely flexible to work around your schedule
📍 Where: In the basement of my home (the books are already sorted on bookcases, so it's well-organized)
⏱️ Hours: To be determined

Having this done will make a big difference when I'm preparing for our upcoming events, including our Summer Full of Books program and Christmas Book Packages.

Sitting here getting everything ready for this year’s Christmas Book Packages, hot chocolate beside me and the laptop full of holiday magic… when I pulled a book from a recent donation and had to pause.

Mr. Mugs – A Jet-Pet.

This wasn’t just any book—it was a childhood favourite. And in our neighborhood we had an Old English Sheepdog who, as far as I was concerned, was Mr. Mugs, so seeing this book again brought an extra wave of nostalgia.

Moments like this remind me why I love putting these packages together. A child will open their book bundle and feel that same spark of excitement for books. ❤️📚

Back to assembling I go… but I had to share this little trip down memory lane.
