Air consumption training tonight at Ibex Valley Fire Rescue.

Members tested how long a air cylinder would last while walking and tracked the distance travelled. Results ranged from 50 minutes and 3.4 km to 1 hour and 16 minutes and 5.6 km on a single cylinder.

Training like this helps firefighters better understand their personal air consumption rates, improve air management skills, and operate safely on the fireground. Congratulations to Kaya for pushing the farthest!

Ibex Valley Fire Rescue provided a fire safety education session to the K/1 students at Hidden Valley School this past week. Students learned about fire safety, firefighters, and what to do in an emergency, along with an opportunity to see some of the equipment used by firefighters.

Thank you to the staff and students at Hidden Valley School for having us, and to Whitehorse Fire Department for approving the visit within their response area.
