An energy transition is happening in Manitoba. Is it the one we want? Is it the one we need?

Manitoba Hydro’s 10-year energy plan is before the Public Utilities Board right now, and the PUB is accepting public submissions. The proposed $3 billion in gas turbines and no added solar are just two of the serious questions being raised about this plan.

Join on June 4th at noon for a free webinar featuring three subject matter experts and a walkthrough of exactly how to make your own submission before the June 18th deadline.

Your voice actually has an impact here.

No expertise is required, just thoughts and/or feelings about Manitoba’s energy future.

This is disturbing. Read through, and The federal government is proposing to end independent assessment of nuclear projects in Canada, and fast track the legislation to turn all the responsibility for assessing the projects to the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission. Read below to find out why this is a terrible plan, and what you can do…note that the current Impact Assessment for the waste dump in NW Ontario would be one of the projects that no longer gets an independent assessment. Sign the petition, write your own letter, visit the website which will help you through http://assessing-nuclear-risk.ca https://win.newmode.net/wethenuclearfreenorth/nuclearprojectsneedcomprehensiveandindependentimpactassessments

No Nuclear Waste in North West Ontario!
Your comments are NEEDED on the Draft Guidelines for the Impact Assessment for the Deep Geological Repository for nuclear waste in the Lake Winnipeg watershed! You may be one of the nearly 1000 people who sent comments on the Initial Project Description – did your comments get heard? This is the NEXT stage of the assessment process. Please weigh in!

What you need to know:

All of Canada’s deadly nuclear fuel waste is destined to be transported literally thousands of kilometers and sealed up in a deep hole in Treaty 3 territory, between Ignace and Dryden, on the Lake Winnipeg watershed. It’s got to be safe from the ground and surface water for a million years. What could go wrong???
These draft Guidelines are meant to ask that question – and answer it – before any license is granted to start construction of this mega-project. Do they ask the right things?
Our friends at We The Nuclear Free North in NW Ontario have provided a great resource to help you send your response. All info at wethenuclearfreenorth.ca
