Sri Sri Radhaballabh Ashram was inaugurated alongwith the installation of Sri Sri Radha Ballabh in a temporary hut on 5th Magh of the Bengali year 1357. The Ashram was initially established on a plot of land measuring three and a half Bighas, made available as a donation by Late Amar Gobinda Pal, an Asistant Manager of Kumbha Tea Estate. Also to serve the people in broad capacity, the Prabhupad Sri Sri Braja Raman Goswami, in his lifetime, received a special allotment of one hundred bighas of land from the Government in the village of Shalganga, close to Kumbhirgram(Silchar Airport) to establish one "Humanitarian Welfare Complex" named "Arta Kalyan Seva Sadan". At present, apart from the temple complex and the Samadhi Mandir, there are other buildings and structures for the service and accomodation of the people visiting the Ashram in addition to accomodating the Ashram inmates. There are are roofed areas in front of the temple complex, Samadhi Mandir as well as Kalachand Tala for gathering of the devotees and for the purpose of Keertan and other functions. There are ponds, flower gardens, kitchen gardens and fruit bearing trees inside the Ashram Complex. There is a very big and open RCC hall with roof to faciliate the devotees to seat and take the Holy cooked "Bhog-Prasad" of Sri Sri Radha Ballabh. There is a Library, a Conference hall, a Car Parking Lot and a Go-shala. There is a English medium school for the liitle ones housed temporarily inside the Ashram. There is also a Yoga Prashikshan centre in the Ashram. With a view to start higher classes in the school there is a proposal for construction of a storied RCC building on a plot of land nearby the Ashram. The present Gurudev and the Head of the Ashram Sri Sri Balaram Goswami lives in a room adjacent to the Holy Shayan Kakshya of the Prabhupad. He appears before and listens to the devotees and visitors gathered in a wide verandah in front of his living room. As per the Holy instruction of the Prabhupad, since October 6, 1987, His elder son, Sri Sri Balaram Goswami, according to the family tradition over the last Nine Generations, took over the service of the Ashram, to serve Sri Sri Radha Ballabh and Rai Kalachand for the well being of the people who visit the Ashram.
