🌍 Strengthening Partnerships in the High North

During Exercise Northern Viking 26, a U.S. Air Force C-130J Super Hercules from Ramstein Air Base, Germany was joined by four Belgian Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons from 349 Belgian Squadron and 31 Tiger Squadron for a stunning formation flight over the rugged glaciers of Iceland. ✈️🧊

NV26 builds on a proud legacy of 75 years of U.S.-Iceland defense cooperation and unshakable support. Joint exercises like this sharpen our military readiness, proving our ability to operate in austere environments and keeping the vital waterways of the Arctic and North Atlantic open and secure. 🇺🇸🇮🇸🇧🇪

Safer Flightlines ➡️ Unmatched Interoperability

In a first-of-its-kind event, tactical-level experts from 10 African partner nations met with members of the U.S. Air Force in Nouakchott from August 3-7. The Mauritania Airfield Safety African Partnership Flight facilitated a mutual understanding of flightline safety challenges, standardized procedures, and shared risk management.

Participants shared information, experiences, and best practices to help to strengthen collective flightline operations in the region. Discussions included topics such as airfield security, emergency response, handling hazardous material, and more.

Collaborating on airfield safety at pivotal regional hubs ensures U.S. and partner forces maintain rapid crisis response capabilities while fostering the seamless interoperability needed to address persistent regional threats.
