CTCN Unlocking the power of technology for climate smart solutions.
(1)

The Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) promotes accelerated, diversified and scaled-up transfer of environmentally sound technologies for climate change mitigation and adaptation, in developing countries, in line with their sustainable development priorities. As defined by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) climate technologies cover any piece of equipment, technique, p

ractical knowledge or skills for performing a particular activity that can be used to face climate change.

🚀 More open solutions. More climate impact. 🚀

The United Nations Climate Technology Centre & Network (CTCN) has officially joined the Public Goods Alliance (DPGA), alongside UN Climate Change, strengthening a shared commitment to open-source software, open data, and open AI systems that deliver public benefit.

As CTCN Director Ariesta Ningrum notes: "Partnerships are central to the CTCN's mission of supporting developing countries in accessing and deploying climate technologies." Joining the DPGA strengthens our ability to connect governments, technology providers, practitioners and innovators around open, scalable digital solutions at a moment when that has never mattered more.

This membership builds on our growing collaboration with the DPGA, including the for Climate Action Collection, a curated set of trusted, open digital tools to support climate mitigation and adaptation, co-stewarded by the TEC, CTCN and DPGA Secretariat.

It also deepens our work under the Initiative, promoting practical AI applications for climate action with a focus on Least Developed Countries and Small Island Developing States.

From early warning systems to energy planning platforms, open digital solutions can help countries build resilience and scale low-emission technologies faster and more equitably.

Strengthening Partnerships to Accelerate Action at 🤝

The UN Climate Change Technology Mechanism side event brought together key stakeholders from governments, international organizations, climate funds, and industry to exchange insights and explore pathways for scaling climate technologies and delivering greater impact.

The discussion mainly focused on how the TEC and the CTCN are working with a diverse range of partners to implement the Joint Work Programme of the Technology Mechanism (2023–2027), fostering innovation and scaling solutions for both climate mitigation and adaptation. Key insights were shared on:

🔹 Advancing the initiative through the UNFCCC– KOICA Climate Future Partnership
🔹 Accelerating industrial decarbonization efforts
🔹 Strengthening links between technology support, innovation, and adaptation finance with the Adaptation Fund
🔹 Advancing the Cement and Concrete Breakthrough Agenda through collaboration with the CTCN

The session highlighted both established and emerging partnership models, key enabling factors for achieving impact, and opportunities to further strengthen collaboration across sectors and stakeholders.

🌍 Celebrating World Environment Day 🌍

Today, United Nations Climate Technology Centre & Network (CTCN) and UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre mark with a small exhibit at UN City Copenhagen, showcasing how climate technologies can help build a more sustainable and resilient future.

As the implementation arm of the UN Climate Change Technology Mechanism, CTCN supports developing countries in identifying, deploying, and scaling climate technologies that advance both climate adaptation and mitigation. Through technical assistance, capacity building, and knowledge sharing, we help countries turn climate ambitions into practical action.

Together, we are accelerating technology solutions for a climate-resilient, low-emission future.

Building strong innovation ecosystems is essential to scaling climate solutions. 💪

This was one of the key messages shared by CTCN during the ICN External Partners Day held last week in Copenhagen, which brought together partners committed to advancing cleantech innovation and sustainable development.

During the session, CTCN Director, Ariesta Ningrum, highlighted experiences from its work supporting national systems of innovation for climate action across developing countries, including initiatives focused on climate technology incubators, SME support, entrepreneurship, circular economy solutions, and enabling environments for technology deployment. The discussions reinforced the importance of collaboration between innovation clusters, financial institutions, research organizations, private sector actors, and international partners in accelerating the development and deployment of climate technologies.

We were particularly encouraged by the strong interest in continued collaboration with ICN members and partners, including several organizations that are already part of the CTCN Network and the wider State of Green Denmark community.
