Ready to discover a garden where plants can taste like oysters, smell like lemon and offer a true sensory experience? 🌿✨

In this video, the “Elamusi täis Eesti” TV show visits Tamme Herb Garden in Pärnu County - a unique garden with around 500 different culinary, aromatic and medicinal plants.

Through the Garden Pearls project, supported by the Interreg Estonia-Latvia Programme, Tamme Talu has added a raised herb bed that makes the garden more accessible for visitors with reduced mobility, wheelchair users, elderly visitors and children. The bed is planted with low, fragrant plants placed within easy reach, so visitors can touch, smell and experience the world of herbs up close.

🎥 Watch the video and step into the world of scents, flavours and accessible garden experiences at Tamme Herb Garden. (Don't forget to turn on the subtitles in 🇬🇧 or 🇪🇪 if they don't run automatically!)

On 29–30 June, we joined the final conference of our supported tourism project Green Railways II: Green Railways: Connecting routes, experiences and tourism markets.

Two days in Latvia and Estonia were filled with inspiring stories, practical insights and hands-on experiences showcasing the achievements of the Green Railways brand — from newly developed cycling routes and visitor experiences to cooperation opportunities for tourism professionals and local service providers. Our Inese Nikopensius gave a presentation on the importance of cross-border cooperation in sustainable tourism development.

The event once again showed how former railway corridors can become accessible, attractive and market-ready tourism routes, connecting nature, culture, communities and tourism markets across borders. 🌿🚲

Thank you, Latvijas Zaļo ceļu asociācija Latvian GreenWays Association and all the other partners for the dedication and great work done!

17 - 18 June, the Monitoring Committee meeting of the Estonia–Latvia programme took place. 🇪🇪 🇱🇻 🇪🇺

Over the two days, members visited Valga Hospital, where we discussed the impact of Interreg-funded projects in the area and heard more about the ongoing eHealth Data Exchange project led by the hospital.

During the presentations and discussions, five recurring focus areas and themes of cooperation emerged:

🔹Strengthening the Valga–Valka Twin City as a single functional region.
🔹Improving cross-border public services, particularly healthcare.
🔹Increasing economic development and business opportunities.
🔹Simplifying Interreg programme administration.
🔹Developing joint long-term strategies for mobility, civil protection, and regional sustainability.

The afternoon of 17 June and 18 June continued at Pühajärve, where the MC reviewed the progress of the 2021–2027 programme, status of project implementation and began shaping the future Estonia - Latvia programme.

Overall, the meeting served both as a showcase of successful Interreg-funded cooperation and as a discussion of priorities for the next EU programming period, with a strong emphasis on practical cross-border solutions.

Thank you to everyone for the productive discussions and shared commitment to cross-border cooperation! 💚☺️

💬 Last week, someone stood at the edge of a trail and paused. Not because the place was less beautiful, but because the experience depended on things most of us never have to think about ... Can you find the route without seeing the signs? ... Can you understand the story without reading small text? ... Can you move independently and safely?

In Võru County, that is exactly what the Access Routes work is changing. The same places people visit for summer memories are being adapted so that more visitors can take part in them in their own way.

💚 At Piusa Visitor Centre, a digital 3D model of the underground cave system was created, along with a tactile 3D model that allows visitors, including people with visual impairments, to understand the cave structure through touch.
💚 At Tamula Beach and the Kreutzwald Trail, information is provided in multiple formats, including tactile elements, QR codes, audio content, simplified text versions and multilingual access.
💚 Ööbikuorg features a 745-metre guiding route with a metal handrail, specifically designed to support independent movement for visitors with visual impairments, combined with audio information via QR codes.
💚 At Pokumaa, a tactile map was installed, and visitors can access audio-described video content via QR code, enabling an accessible first introduction to the site.

These improvements are part of a wider cross-border effort to make nature and cultural heritage more accessible across the Estonia-Latvia programme area. Access Routes is supported by the Interreg VI-A Estonia-Latvia Programme 2021-2027.
