The Aspen Medical-managed Lautoka Hospital has successfully performed its 500th Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG), or open-heart surgery, marking a significant milestone in the delivery of life-saving cardiac care in Fiji. ❤

Following the successful surgery, 58-year-old Krishna Murti from Natadola, Sigatoka, is recovering well at home.

Reaching 500 procedures is a testament to the continued growth of cardiac services at Lautoka Hospital and our collective commitment to improving patient outcomes and saving lives.

It was a privilege to welcome Margaret Leong as Guest of Honour and Keynote Speaker at the closing ceremony of International Infection Prevention Week 2026 at Lautoka Hospital.

A pioneer of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) in Fiji, Margaret served as the country’s first full-time Infection Control Nurse and Lautoka Hospital’s first IPC Team Leader before supporting IPC programmes across the Pacific through the Pacific Community (SPC).

What began as an ambitious idea became a week of learning, meaningful conversations, healthy debate and team engagement, reinforcing our shared commitment to safer healthcare.

This week, we celebrated Pinktober at Lautoka Hospital, honouring our cancer champions who bravely shared their personal journeys with our team.

Many of these heroes spoke about their experiences and the care and support they received from the team at Lautoka Hospital throughout their cancer journey, which helped them on their road to recovery.
