Cleveland Pools Update - 19/02/26
We’re sharing a new progress update on the work underway to understand the flood damage at Cleveland Pools and what’s needed to reopen them.
Since the flooding in January 2024, the Trust has been carrying out detailed technical and engineering investigations. These are now complete and have confirmed both the extent of the damage and the remedial works required. The scale of the repairs means that identifying a viable route to funding is now our main focus.
This update also marks a point of transition for the Trust. We want to thank Paul Simons and Ina Harris, who have stepped down as Chair and Deputy Chair after many years of commitment and leadership. Their work was instrumental in restoring and reopening the Pools in 2023, and we’re very grateful for everything they’ve done.
We know the last couple of years have been frustrating for many people, especially those who have continued to support and care for the site while the Pools have been closed. We recognise that our communication hasn’t always been as clear or regular as it should have been, and we’re committed to improving that going forward.
