The Prime Minister is in Wales today on his "listening tour", during which he's chatting to people about the cost of living. 👂💷 While some political figures welcome Andy Burnham's visit, others aren't so impressed.

Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Wales, David Chadwick, has argued that "Wales doesn’t need another Labour listening exercise, Wales needs action”.

The MP for Brecon, Radnor and Cwm Tawe added: “Labour ran Wales for 26 years until May. In that time, wages remained the lowest of the UK nations, child poverty was the highest, and Labour utterly failed to build the prosperous Welsh economy it repeatedly promised.

“If AndyBurnham is serious about easing the burden on Welsh families, his Government must deliver: fixing our broken energy market, standing up for our farmers, properly funding rural services and giving Wales its fair share of infrastructure investment.”

We have a plan to finally end the small boats crisis: join the EU’s new migration pact, allowing Britain to return people who have no right to stay and helping destroy the criminal gangs’ business model.

Brexit left Britain with fewer tools to tackle illegal migration, no access to vital EU-wide asylum data and no watertight returns agreement. The Conservatives and Nigel Farage promised Brexit would mean taking back control of our borders. Instead, they helped create a system that has made the problem worse.

We need a humane, orderly and effective asylum system; one that provides refuge to those who genuinely need it, while ensuring those with no right to remain can be returned.

Thank you to the farmers and moorland managers who took the time to meet with me on Ireland Moor above Painscastle and share their experiences following the recent wildfires.

It was sobering to hear first-hand about the impact on land and livelihoods. I'll keep pushing for action on moorland management, wildfire prevention, and support for farmers through drought.

The Welsh Liberal Democrats want to see rail powers fully devolved to Wales, giving us the ability to invest in better services, improve connections and put passengers first.

Our railways should work for the people of Wales, not be an afterthought.

It’s time to give Wales the powers to build the railway network we deserve.

🥵 Over 1,000 air-conditioning faults have been reported on Transport for Wales trains since April, with 124 still outstanding.

Passengers shouldn't be left sweltering on trains during the summer, particularly when hotter temperatures are becoming increasingly common.

🚆 TfW needs to urgently clear the outstanding faults, while the Welsh Government needs a proper plan to make our railways more resilient to extreme heat, including learning from European countries already used to keeping transport networks running in high temperatures.

Wales can't grind to a halt every time the temperature rises.

💧 Figures uncovered by the Welsh Lib Dems show that Dŵr Cymru lost 234 million litres of water every day to leaks last year - the equivalent to 94 Olympic-sized swimming pools a day.

At a time when Wales is suffering drought and customers’ bills are rising, this simply isn’t good enough.

Enough wasted. It’s time to fix our broken water industry.
