A MASSIVE THANKS FOR YOUR GENEROSITY........

On Saturday past the guys from Belfast District held their annual Bed Push from Ardoyne shops to Corn Market in Belfast.

The rain did not dampen the team's spirits nor the generosity of the public. We had a great day and met some wonderful people along the way.

A massive ยฃ1930.88 was raised.

EARLY START TO A LONG DAY

Yesterday morning the volunteers of the Community Rescue Service where up and at it early with a 4am tasking to assist the Police Service of Northern Ireland with a high-risk missing person in the south Belfast area.

Due to the nature of the tasking CRS utilised Drone, Foot & Boat teams along the River Lagan with the person being located and brought to a place of safety a short time later after having entered the River.

Some volunteers were able to go home, some onto their paid jobs - but it wasn't long before the second tasking of the day came, again to the South Belfast area for a second person.

With the extensive search area, systematic searches took place using off road all terrain vehicles, drone & foot teams with the person being located after a period of time on the ground.

CRS volunteers where able to get a quick bite to eat when the third tasking came, this time it was to assist our colleagues in Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and the The People's Kitchen with the extraction of an injured person in a difficult to reach location utilising off road all terrain vehicles and handing the person over for onward care.

The day wasn't over yet, as yesterday evening 4 of our latest intake of recruits had to undergo boat crew assessments after 6 weeks of intense training to give them the skills, knowledge & competencies on how to handle situations as they unfold as boat crew during taskings, we are pleased to say that all 4 passed and are now ready to respond when the call comes.

RIVER LAGAN RESCUE

Yesterday evening the Community Rescue Service volunteers were called to an emergency incident which involved a person in difficulty who had entered the River Lagan.

Our colleagues in the Police Service of Northern Ireland had deployed a life ring and managed to keep the individual afloat until the arrival of our Emergency Response Boat which had been conducting water rescue training nearby and was quickly on scene.

The casualty was quickly brought on board by our volunteers where immediate first aid was administered before the casualty was handed off for further care.

We would like to thank our volunteers, CCTV operators and Police for their quick actions and response which brought the incident to a safe conclusion.
