We offer family, group, school and corporate boat trips along the Dudley Canal. Enjoy a 45 minute trip through the network of tunnels and limestone caverns, or meander the waterways of the Black Country on a longer 2-hour, 3-hour or 6-hour journey. Our history goes back to 1963 when the Dudley Canal Tunnel Preservation Society was formed to protect the tunnel, and in particular to oppose the Railw

ay plans to block the Tipton Portal with an embankment. In 1970 the Society became the Dudley Canal Trust. In 2015 supported by European Regional Development Fund, Heritage Lottery Fund and Biffa Award alongside other funders we opened our new Portal building, complete with restaurant, shop, exhibition gallery and learning space. We cater for over 80,000 passengers per year and any trading surplus is used to help maintain the Tunnel and Dudley Canal and its environment.

Last boat trips at 2pm and the site closes at 3pm. It's too hot to safely operate, so we've made the decision to shut down early both days.

Twilight Tours are back this Saturday 27th June 🌙

The weather's scorching this week, so if you're looking for a way to cool off, why not head into the caverns Saturday evening? Choose your departure - 6pm, 7pm, or 8pm, and escape from the heat - drifting through the darkness enjoying the music, lights and incredible tunnels.

Make the most of the evening by bringing a picnic to enjoy canalside, and toast the night with a drink from our bottle bar.

Something new is starting on 25th June 🔦

We're running Behind the Scenes Tours - a completely different way to experience the caverns. Private groups, limited numbers, and time to actually explore the Singing Cavern and its vast history without rushing.

It's designed for people who want to ask questions, understand how it all works, and spend time in spaces most visitors never get to see.

Tea, coffee, and pastries included when you arrive and tours run once a day on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 9:45am. 16+ only.

Our community bookshelf is running low on books 📚

It's a staple in the cafe - you can come in, find something you fancy, leave a donation, and take it home. It's become such a nice part of what we do here.

Right now we need good quality books - fiction, non-fiction, whatever you've got. But we're especially low on children's books, so if you've got any gathering dust at home, we'd love to give them a second life. Just bring them to the office next time you're in.

Unlimited boat trips whenever you fancy it, early access to the events we run, discounts in the cafe and shop. It pays for itself in a few visits.

More than that though, there's something about visiting regularly that changes how you see this place. You start noticing things, you get to know the guides and it becomes part of your year.
