The Kultur Ensemble in Glasgow has officially opened its doors! 🇩🇪🇫🇷🏴
Glasgow is one of the eight locations in the world where the German and French cultural institutions work together so closely.
The Kultur Ensemble stands for cultural exchange, language learning, and European dialogue building on over two decades of close cooperation between the Goethe-Institut Glasgow, the Alliance Française Glasgow and the Institut français d'Ecosse. As part of a global network of Franco-German cultural hubs, the Kultur Ensemble aims to strengthen European cooperation while deepening local engagement in Scotland.
At the opening on 3 June, Ambassador Baumann stressed the significance of this new cultural platform: “Germany, France and the UK are among the world's great cultural powerhouses. In vibrant Glasgow, their talent is now brought together in a shared space dedicated to exchange, creativity and mutual inspiration.” Also present were Stefan Rössel, Deputy Director-General for Culture and Society at Auswärtiges Amt, as well as other German, French and Scottish representatives.
The opening programme featured an inspiring line-up of artists, students, and international guests, including a live illustration workshop with the German and French illustrators Axel Scheffler, who is best-known for illustrating “The Gruffalo”, and Marie-Alice Harel, showcasing the essence of collaboration and education at the heart of this initiative.
If you are in Glasgow, don't miss the chance to visit the Kultur Ensemble and experience the various programmes and offers!
