Christmas is an exciting time for all children, but it can be difficult for those escaping domestic violence. While kids and adults all over the country receive dozens of gifts during the holiday season, those living in a refuge may not even expect to have one. All you have to do is…
1. Pop into the Town Hall, 1-2 Guildhall Street, Folkestone, CT20 1DY from 27 October 2026
2. Pick up a gift tag & purchase the gift listed on the tag
3. Drop the unwrapped gift back to the Town Hall by 28 November 2026
4. Give the gift of joy to a child in need this Christmas!

Folkestone Town Council has provided the Community Minibus to the Beacon School to use for their day-to-day activities.
The minibus was originally purchased through the Kent County Council Community Transport Scheme and is adapted to be fully accessible, has 10 seats or 7 and 1 wheelchair and is fully electric. The Beacon School often uses its fleet of vehicles for many things such as school pickups and various trips out and about. Their current fleet is declining due to general wear and tear and having the community minibus in their fleet will mean they can continue providing an excellent service to their school community.
The Town Mayor of Folkestone, Councillor Jackie Meade (pictured) said: “The Beacon School is an essential part of many people’s lives in and around Folkestone and we are lucky have such and amazing organisation in the town that caters for those with severe learning difficulties and complex needs. I hope the minibus will help the school continue the amazing work they do here.”
