Are you a budding writer? We're inviting all children aged 5–15 to join our 500-word short story competition ahead of Summer Reading Quest 2026.

Choose one or more of our Curious Creatures and make them the main character in your story. What kind of mischief or adventures will the Curious Creatures get up to this summer?

The deadline for story entries is 30th June.

We’ll be giving out bookish prizes for the winning entries!

Find out more and how to enter at https://suffolkcommunitylibraries.co.uk/children-and-teens/reading-quest/short-story-competition/

Or pop into the library and pick up a story template!

🌟 Win prizes for reading books this summer!

Our libraries are running fun Book Bingo challenges for both children and adults! The bingo is a chance to explore the huge range of books on offer in our libraries and read something new. It's easy to take part:

• Pick up a free bingo sheet from your local library or download and print a copy at home - we have different challenges for adults and children
• Take part in the 12 challenges and fill in each block as you complete them
• Once you have a full bingo sheet, return it to the library and you’ll be entered into a monthly draw to win book tokens!

Draws take place for both children and adults every month between April and November!

If health or mobility problems are preventing you or someone you know from visiting a library branch or mobile library, our Home Library Service volunteers are here to help!

Let us know your favourite authors, genres, or topics, and our volunteers will select books for you and place the orders through the library. They’ll collect the books, deliver them to your home, and return any you’ve finished.

This service is completely free - get in touch with your local library to find out more and sign up!
