Please join us in thanking these Community Heroes for the mighty village spring clean undertaken today....

Over 30 kind souls collected over 60 sacks of rubbish, a traffic cone, parts from 3 different cars and a kitchen cabinet... Plus washing down every road sign in the village so we sparkle in the spring sunshine.

Huge thanks once again to BSH Recycling who provided their charity skip and will recycle all the waste for free.... Please support those who support us.

Wednesday morning around 9am, outside numbers 8 and 10 Maxey Road - another RTA in the village. The Road was blocked for over an hour. We are seeing a lot of unsafe driving, especially speeding, around the bend from Glinton Road onto Maxey Road on a regular basis.

Vacancy on Helpston Parish Council – Could You Help Shape Our Village?

Helpston Parish Council currently has a vacancy for a Parish Councillor, following the resignation of a former member.

Being a councillor is a rewarding opportunity to represent local residents and help shape decisions affecting our village, including community facilities, the environment, planning matters, and local services.

Who can apply?
You may be eligible to become a Parish Councillor if you:
Are 18 years or older
Are a British, Commonwealth, or Irish citizen
Live in, work in, or have strong connections with the Parish

What happens next?
Local electors have the right to request a formal election. If 10 electors request this by 26 March 2026, an election will be held. If no election is requested, the Parish Council will fill the vacancy by co-option, inviting applications from interested residents.

Why consider it?
Help shape the future of Helpston
Represent your neighbours and community
Support local projects and initiatives
Gain experience in local government
Parish Council meetings are usually held once a month, and councillors volunteer their time to support the village.

It has been put together to give greater visibility of the ongoing work that we do to support the community in which we live. There will be some great resources available as time progresses, in the short term, there remain some areas left to populate.

If you find any glitches, then please contact [email protected] , otherwise... have a look and use the resources available - there is a direct link to FIX MY STREET where you can report any issues directly to the city council.

Nestled on the edge of the Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire border, Helpston is a historic rural village with a strong sense of community.

Since joining you as your named Neighbourhood Police Officer I have tried to ensure that we reach as many residents across the ward as possible with our face to face surgeries given the rural landscape of Barnack Ward. I believe that these have been broadly welcomed and allows those that would not normally have the time or the ability to travel about the ward to attend and meet me in person.

Myself and Cllr Tighe agreed to a trial of conducting joint surgeries and following on from the success of the last two I am pleased to say that we have agreed to continue to conduct these together where possible. This format allows residents, businesses and visitors to the ward to ask robust questions without the need to repeat at another surgery and we can respond individually or where appropriate jointly. When and where required we can always find a quiet corner to discuss sensitive matters that are not for the wider audience.

Our next joint surgery will be held at The Reading Room, Bainton, Barnack Road, Stamford, PE9 3AE on the 28th April between 1900-2000hrs.

Myself and Cllr Tighe look forward to seeing you there and if for any reason you cannot attend please send either myself or Cllr Tighe an email with any questions or concerns you may have.

Kind regards
Trevor
